STUDIO PARTY 12: SENSORY EXPLOSION
THE VENUE: McCOLL CENTER FOR VISUAL ART McColl Center for Visual Art is a nationally acclaimed contemporary art center dedicated to connecting art and artists with the community. Located in a historic, neo-Gothic church in Uptown Charlotte, the Center houses nine artist studios and over 5,000 square feet of gallery space, hosting artists from the region, nation and world. Artists inspire critical thinking and positive change. They interpret the past and invent the future. McColl Center for Visual Art’s residency program offers artists a place to work, conduct research and participate in outreach projects which extend into the community. Locally, McColl Center for Visual Art has been recognized as: Charlotte Magazine Winner, Best Arts Hub Creative Loafing Winner, Best Cultural Institution
HISTORY OF THE EVENT On April 22, 2010 McColl Center for Visual Art honored our founders at a 10-year anniversary celebration: Bank of America Night of Nights. A truly memorable experience for over 350 of our special guests in attendance, the Center was inspired to recreate the event and continue the celebration each spring. Now in its third year, Studio Party 12 (previously Spring Fling) is one of the Center’s largest annual fundraising events and art sale that attracts artists and patrons in addition to local, state and national dignitaries.
THE EVENT Studio Party 12: Sensory Explosion will be held from 7 to 10 PM on Saturday, April 14, 2012. The Center will come alive with cocktails, art, music, and gourmet treats and eight of the Center’s studios will be transformed by artists in themes sure to tantalize the senses. All three floors of the Center will be brimming with an art sale of work by our fabulous alumni artists in a one-of-a-kind exhibition. With something for everyone, the works will be showcased in over 5,000 square feet of gallery space and are sure to wow and dazzle those just starting their collection to those with museums named in their honor. Tickets sales and additional event information can be found: www.mccollcenter.org/SP12
