A NOTE FROM THE CLUB MANAGER
A BIG THANKS goes out to you all for your support of Brook Valley Country Club in 2022! It was our most successful year ever as a part of McConnell Golf, and it would not have been possible without the support of you, our Brook Valley Country Club members. Our membership grew to new heights this past year, adding over 40 new memberships to the club as we close in on the 500 member mark. I am sure we will pass it early in 2023! Welcome aboard Cortne Hayes, our new Member Services Director. Cortne joined us from ECU where she served as the Administrative Support Associate for the College of Education’s Office of Assessment, Data Management and Digital Learning. She is currently enrolled at ECU, majoring in Communications with a concentration in Interpersonal and Organizational Communication. Cortne has lived in Greenville since 2010 with her husband Byron, their daughter Waverleigh, and their two cats Minnie and Jake. Also joining the Brook Valley team is Austin Wood. Austin joins the Golf Professional staff after a year of success playing golf in the collegiate ranks, winning a National Championship at Sandhills Community College. Austin has previously worked at Bradford Creek, where he assisted in all facets of the golf operations, including helping with all junior camps and clinics. We are excited to have both as a part of our Brook Valley team! A special congratulations goes out to Jennifer Baker and Deena Dieckhaus for being named our 2022 Employees of the Year. Jennifer was promoted to Food & Beverage Manager in August and Deena promoted to Food & Beverage Assistant and Special Events. Both have taken the reigns and ran with our food and beverage operations and club activities, offering a little creativity to our events while heightening our service and increasing our communication to our membership. Thank you both for all you continue to do in making Brook Valley be the best it can be. While my focus has shifted to taking on more responsibilities as Club Manager, rest assured the Golf Operations will still continue to grow as we look for an even bigger and better 2023 on the golf course. Travis and Austin are already proving to be a good team and we are excited to put forth a great year of events for our members, juniors, and guests. I personally appreciate all your support over the last few months. We have a great group of managers in place with Kenric, Jennifer, Deena, and all the F&B team, Buckley, Ben, and the Course Agronomy team, Travis, Austin, and the Golf Operations team, Chris our Clubhouse Engineer, and Cortne our Member Services Director – I am fortunate to work with them all! Finally, I would like to add to the thanks to you all on behalf of our staff on your generous contributions to the employee holiday fund. All of us here at the Club are greatly appreciative and we only hope to continue to serve you better in 2023! I look forward to seeing you all at the Club soon.

We offered 24 Men’s Night events with 911 participants – breaking the old record by over 100 participants!! Allan Hinds captured the season long Scott Groot Match Play, successful making his way through the summer series of matches to claim victory over Rich Rados in the Championship Match. Throughout the season, participants in MGA events earn points in the “Race-to-the-Finish” Points Series. Mike Steele won the regular season points title with 680 points, claiming victory in six events, tied for the most wins along with Steve Wilson, Mike Cox, and Ronnie Smith. Kirk Rogerson was the 2022 MGA Shoot-Out Champion, winning the team title with partner Jeff Gibson over Ronnie Smith and Ryan Carpenter. Look for the Annual MGA Meeting to determine 2023 Officers and discuss activities for 2023 to be announced soon. Men’s Night events will start March 30 and will run through the season each Thursday through September. For this first time this year we will have a play in tournament to finalize the field for the Scott Groot Match Play. This new event will accommodate our ever growing MGA Membership and with prizes available in addition to qualifying for the field. Look for other important dates on the 2023 Golf Schedule. If you are interested in joining the BV MGA in 2023, a formal announcement will go out early in the year. Dues will be payable at that time. In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact a member of the Golf Shop staff, or a BV MGA Board Member. We look forward to another exciting year of MGA Golf
