PURPOSE The Semper Fit Youth Sports program provides youth the opportunity to play organized sports with an emphasis on sportsmanship, teamwork, basic skill development, social interaction, physical fitness and fun!

REGISTRATION INFORMATION BASEBALL Open to ages 5-15. Participants must be 5 before the season starts. START SMART BASEBALL Open to ages 3-4. Participants must be 3 before the program starts. This is a parent participation program! • Prepares children ages 3-4 for organized baseball in a fun, non-threatening environment. • Allows children the opportunity to work one-on-one with a parent. • Teaches children a variety of baseball skills including hitting, catching, bunting, baserunning and throwing. • Offers exercises that become increasingly more difficult as the class progresses and children show improvement. • Start Smart is a program of National Alliance for Youth Sports.

Registration Register at the IronWorks Gym front desk. Registration forms will be accepted from February 16 - March 16. Non-SOFA status dates are February 2-23.

Fees $40 for the first child and $35 for each additional child. The fee will increase to $45 per child after March 17. SKILLS EVALUATION - AGES 10 AND UP Youth ages 10 and up are required to be present at the Skills Evaluation. If extenuating circumstances exist as to why your child cannot attend, it is required that you notify the Youth Sports Coordinator at least 48 hours in advance. Exceptions will be made on a case-by-case basis for situations such as bereavement, emergency leave or newly PCS’ing arrivals. Each youth will participate in several stations such as hitting, catching, baserunning and throwing to assess their basic level of athletic experience and skill. The Skills Evaluation will be held on March 19 at 5:30 PM at Penny Lake Field #2.

TEAM ASSIGNMENTS Youth ages 10 and up are assigned teams according to their performance at the Skills Evaluation. Siblings in the same age group will be allowed to play on the same team. In order to keep the teams as evenly matched as possible, players will not be allowed to switch teams for any reason. If a player has not received an email or phone call from their coach by March 28, parents should call the Youth Sports Coordinator at 253-3239 for more information. Official team practices begin the week of March 30. Note: For questions and concerns during the season, we here at the Youth Sports office request that all parents utilize their respective coaches to address and resolve all issues. If the issue is not resolved through this process, please notify the staff at the Youth Sports office at 253-3239 or email ombiwayouthsports@ usmc-mccs.org.
