BAMBOO CUTTING & RICE POUNDING March 7, 8:30 AM - 2:30 PM
Have you ever been to a bamboo forest and taken in all its exquisiteness - its texture, color and scent that is almost like an aroma? Let the Cultural Adaptation program take you on a great opportunity to experience the beauty of the forest in Tenno, Iwakuni City. We are going to cut some bamboo stalks in order to let the sunlight in the forest so that the shoots can grow well, which we will harvest in April. Please bring a pair of gloves and waterproof boots. Sign-up starts February 9, 9 AM at Library. The Cultural Adaptation Program offers guided bus tours of local venues and attractions. The only requirement is that you preregister in person with the Cultural Adaptation Office in Bldg. 411, 3rd floor. The tour is open to all SOFA status personnel and their dependents ages 5 & older. Minimum of 5 patrons are required for this trip, otherwise it will be cancelled. ยง253-6165
