LIBRARY Reading List

The Fateful Lightning: A Novel of the Civil War by Jeff Shaara

The Breaking Point: A Body Farm Novel by Jefferson Bass

Ulysses S. Grant makes the most of his recent promotion by leading the Union army during the final eight months of the Civil War. William T. Sherman, who now commands the Federal forces gathered in Tennessee, leads a surge that sweeps through Atlanta and northern Georgia. As Christmas comes, Sherman faces the Confederacy's last real chance of winning the war: General Joseph E. Johnston.

Ten years after Dr. Bill Brockton created the Body Farm for conducting posthumous research, things are taking a turn for the worse. He is being accused of misidentifying a body, being threatened by a serial killer who has already attempted to kill him and his family, and is dealing with a shocking revelation from his wife.

The Book of Speculation by Erika Swyler

The Little Paris Bookshop by Nina George

Librarian Simon Watson is passing the time in his lonely home when a bookseller's strange package turns an ordinary June day into something extraordinary. The book tells of doomed circus lovers and references Simon's grandmother. Now Simon and his estranged sister, who reads tarot cards for a traveling carnival, must break a curse that has sent many of the women in their family to a watery grave.

Monsieur Perdu is the “literary apothecary” of a floating bookstore known for selecting just the right book for every customer. But there is one page he has never dared to read: the last letter written by the long-lost love of his life. Upon finally opening the letter, Perdu takes his book-barge from the Seine to the south of France in an attempt to write a peaceful ending to the love story that broke his heart.

The Sunken Cathedral by Kate Walbert

Go Set a Watchman by Harper Lee

This deceptively simple novel combines memories, regrets, doubts, hopes, fears and mental detours including an escape from war-torn France and the past of a sugar maple tree. The result is a multidimensional portrait of two 80-something widows in New York's Chelsea neighborhood venturing outside their comfort zone.

Set 20 years after To Kill a Mockingbird, Scout Finch returns to Maycomb to visit her father and struggles with the political and personal issues surrounding mid-1950s America.

Pinnacle Event by Richard Clarke Five murders across three continents reveal the black-market sale of five nuclear weapons. Former U. S. intelligence expert Ray Bowman is called out of retirement and teams up with a South African intelligence officer and a Mossad agent to find out who bought the bombs and why. Little Black Lies by Sharon Bolton and S. J. Bolton Catrin Coffin, a whale researcher, is part of a close-knit community in the remote Falkland Islands. When children begin to go missing, the community unravels and panic rises. As the villagers hunt for the abductor, Catrin, her childhood best friend Rachel and her ex-boyfriend Callum, all must hide terrible secrets. Independence Day: A Dewey Andreas Novel by Ben Coes A Russian hacker, known only as Cloud, is set to be captured by the CIA for being involved with terrorist organizations. Unwilling to sit out of the mission as ordered, newly recruited intelligence agent Dewey Andreas goes rouge and tries to tag along. When the mission goes wrong, Dewey goes on the run and discovers a deadly plot that’s scheduled to go live in three days. The Summer’s End by Mary Alice Monroe The fate of Sea Breeze, a family’s cherished estate, lies in the hands of the youngest sister, Harper, as she faces her fears, insecurities and hopes of starting a new life in this conclusion to the trilogy set on Sullivan’s Island, SC.
