RETAIL About Pomzella Singleton Pomzella is a Beaufort, SC native and Battery Creek High School alumni. She attended the Kenneth Schuler’s School of Cosmetology and has worked as a cosmetologist for more than 15 years and owned her own salon for 7 years. UR T! T OYLIS E E m ST W NE

“I am excited about working with the Marines, Sailors and their families because they are dedicated to doing whatever is possible to make life safer, not only for their families but for families all over the world. I know that the sacrifice the Marines, Sailors and their families make are because they love this country and the freedom that we get with being in the USA. I have seen the sacrifices they make through my own children who serve in the US Military. So I consider it a privilege to be a part of the Marine family, to give where my services are needed.” Pomzella’s Tips to Prevent Breakage Wearing your hair in a bun on a daily basis can cause it to break. Here are 4 simple tips to remember to keep your hair from getting damaged: 1. Moisturize your hair before putting it in a bun. The more elasticity you have in your hair the less of a chance you’ll have seeing breakage in the area around the elastic band used to keep your hair in place. After shampooing, moisturize your hair with a crème rinse or leave-in conditioner and comb it through your hair with a wide tooth comb. If you use a crème rinse, rinse your hair well afterwards. 2. Do not put wet hair into a bun. It will become tangled, hard to comb and can start to smell. Hair also becomes very fragile when wet. Try removing as much moisture as possible with a towel or blow dryer before placing an elastic holder onto your hair. 3. Do not put hair too tightly in a ponytail. The tighter the ponytail, the greater the possibility of breakage is to your hairline. Just make sure your ponytail is firmly secured in an elastic band to keep your bun in place. 4. Use the back side of a comb along with a gel, pomade or wax to help control your edges. This will help to keep the bristles of the brush from irritating the scalp around the hairline. Then secure your hairline with a wrap to keep it in place and smooth until you’re ready to head out the door.
