“Photographing in the autumnal forest is like a great exhale from the heat and sunlight of summer. The chill is at once invigorating and cleansing.” Art Wolfe

Fall & Winter 2021 We are excited to share this new collection tailored to the fall and winter seasons. While we are enjoying the longer and warmer days of summer, we can’t help but look forward to when the air gets a little crisper and the leaves take on gold and russet hues. The colors of fall and winter inspire us with their warmth and neutrality, in palettes that comfort and soothe. Included in this new supplement are over 160 brand new images by 31 artists. We’ve added brilliant photographic landscape works by Art Wolfe, Barry Hart, Carol M. Highsmith, Chris Vest, Jason Savage, Norm Stelfox, Orah Moore, and William Guion that capture the beauty of the changing seasons. Along with these photographic landscapes, you will find new painted landscapes by Robert Moore, Libby Smart, Todd Telander, Eduard Gurevich, Kim Penner, and new artists Dorothy Holmes Mohler, Jimmy Dyer and David Graham. For those looking for a bit of whimsy, we’ve added new colorful landscapes by Peggy Davis and Gill Bustamante. We’ve included an array of new abstract images with works by Nancy Ortenstone, Margaret Juul, Alicia Dunn, Cathe Hendrick, Flora Kouta, Ann Solo, Irena Orlov, Karen Lehrer, Stacey Wolf, and new artists Michelle Armas and Sue Riger. Rounding out the collection are new figurative illustrations by Loui Jover and vintage Art Nouveau engravings by Julie de Graag that capture the romance of the seasons. We hope that you love this collection as much as we loved putting it together! - Your friends at McGaw Graphics

“I am challenged to paint autumn aspen groves as a subject because the white of the tree trunk becomes a trove of beautiful color harmonies. The reflected light can be any hue in the color wheel depending upon the secondary light source affecting it. There are many wonderful progressions with the stepping in between subtle tones. It is an endless source of inspiration.” Robert Moore

“"Blue Mountains and the Valley" (page 9) represents a classic scene of the Walla Walla valley of southeastern Washington. Lush fields of wheat lie between meandering streams dotted with cottonwood, locust and willow. In the background is the towering Blue Mountains, which is the source of our water throughout the year. This summer landscape will soon turn to shades of gold by autumn, with the nearby vineyards becoming crimson red. I even look forward to the peaceful blankets of snow that will cloak the land here in winter, giving repose to all living things and reflecting the colors of the sublime sunsets.” Todd Telander

“"Autumn Aglow" represents that “Wow" time during fall when everything comes together: an inviting view, massive color, the light glowing. This image was taken mid way through autumn when the leaves have fallen creating a carpet along the roadsides and yet the trees are still full of the colorful bounty. A steel blue sky in the distance for this country road scene enhanced the glow factor. It is a familiar scene to me as I travel this road almost daily. In fact, I have photographed it in both winter and fall. Both seasons are so magical. I never tire of this same road in all sorts of light.” Orah Moore

“While we are looking at what appears on one side of the mountain, there is always the intriguing mystery of what exists on the other side. “Late Fall is always my favorite season to paint. It is the only time when you can mix bright colors and soft hues into the same palette while keeping a fairly realistic approach to capturing the subject. The border line between real and unreal are no longer visible, opening a much larger window for interpretation. In "Saying Goodbye" (page 26) the first snow is covering last year’s bright carpet, its madness is still breaking through here and there, making us reflect on events that took place in the past year. Soon everything will be wiped out, creating a new canvas for new hopes, new ideas, new life. This is a clear reminder that looking forward into the future is impossible without a glimpse in the past.” Eduard Gurevich

“I made the image of the Oxley Oak in the LSU Quadrangle in Baton Rouge during the early summer of 2020 at the height of the pandemic lockdown. With students and staff absent from the campus, I was able to photograph the Oxley Oak and other historic oaks at LSU without people on an otherwise bustling campus. The Oxley Oak is one of the “endowed oaks” on campus. It’s named for the Oxley family who provided the financial gift to care for the old oak. Through its oak endowment program, LSU raises money to help with the care and maintenance costs of LSU’s historic oaks, many of which are nearing a century old, planted when the first campus buildings were constructed in the mid-1920s. The image captures the profile of the old oak with the iconic LSU Memorial Tower peeking through its arched branches. This clearly defines the tree’s location and hints at its age and historic connection to the university.” William Guion

“We are blessed with so much natural beauty in the Lower Mainland but the farmlands of Pitt Meadows have special significance to me. I travelled these rural roads for 20 years every day and they always had a calming influence on me no matter what happened during the day. Old barns with glorious pastures have always drawn me to explore further with my camera. Be it sunrises or sunsets. The Red Barns especially attracted my attention due to the fact that the original red barns were actually part of a rusting process ( a combination of linseed oil and rust produced the red color ). This image also reminds me how rare snow and frost are in the Lower Mainland but when they do occur, the imagery becomes even more inviting” Norm Stelfox

“One thing I love about painting in the winter is that the visual information is simplified and the design of the large dark and light masses becomes of greatest importance. It’s the difference between taking two kids to the zoo and 22 kids. In the winter the high contrasting information of various hues and intensities gets left home and you focus on the beautiful shapes presented by the snow and the darker elements.” Robert Moore
