Dear Friends of CWTC, The Community Workshop & Training Center, Inc. has experienced a tremendous year of celebration, commemorating 50 years of service to adults with disabilities in Central Illinois. This great organization has grown significantly from its very humble beginnings. I am sure the founding parents would be so proud and pleased with the strides our consumers have made in their quest for independence. Each day, one of our consumers makes progress towards independence. For example, Travis Freeman was referred to CWTC’s Community Employment program for services post graduation. CWTC provides case management and job coach support to Travis at his employment site at Wendy’s, where Travis works one day per week doing general clean-up. Three days per week Travis participates in the vocational program at CWTC, where he receives training on packaging skills. Travis is an excellent worker, following prompts by his job coach to move from task to task. No one has been unaffected by the state of our economy, however many have been fortunate to have had reserves on which to draw. CWTC established a safety net several years ago in the form of the CWTC Foundation. This entity provides our consumers and staff with the security to look to the future and know that the services provided will not be interrupted. Imagine what could happen to Travis and the 800 consumers we serve if there was no safety net! In an effort to substantially increase the resources available for future programming, we have established a goal of $25,000 for this year’s annual appeal. In addition to this goal we have created donor recognition levels which will be added to the CWTC website and are listed on the enclosed response card. As you review your end of the year gifts, please consider the CWTC Foundation. Thank you for your support of CWTC and people with disabilities. Warm regards,
Gail M. Leiby, Executive Director
