cott and Susan McMillin back in 2011 spearheaded an effort to bring a hospice house to San Diego’s South County. “My wife and I went though Sharp HospiceCare’s program with a loved one at LakeView home in La Mesa,” said McMillin. “This experience left us with a sense of comfort and well-being, and a strong desire to bring this service to the South Bay community. With a sense of purpose, Scott and Susan McMillin talked with Sharp HospiceCare; they decided to join forces. A property was found in Bonita that had the setting and the land they were looking for. And now, three years later, thanks to the generosity of many donors, sits the beautiful and peaceful BonitaView Hospice Residence built on that one acre parcel, formerly owned by the Tessitore family, well known in the area for their concrete contracting business. The residence is a 5,600-square-foot ranch-style house in Bonita, Calif. It’s the first facility of its kind in the South Bay area of San Diego County for end-of-life, palliative care designed around the needs of patients and their families. This specially-designed home, featuring six private bedrooms for residents, offers patients and families a variety of comfortable, “just like home” sitting areas for discussions, quiet meditation locales with solid oak doors for sound buffering, even a kitchenette so that families can warm their loved ones’ favorite foods from home. The artwork, the lighting, the linens, the flooring, all are designed to delight the eye in a gentle way. If you are curious and wish to know more about this newest health care facility in our South County community, you can call 619-667-1900, for more information. The BonitaView Hospice Residence is located at 3850 Valley Vista Road, Bonita, CA 91902. CLICK HERE FOR A VIDEO ON THE BONITA VIEW HOSPICE RESIDENCE: SHARP.COM/HOSPICE/BONITAVIEW-HOSPICE-HOME.CFM
