Exciting changes for Lynch Plant Hire Many changes have been happening behind the scenes over the past couple of months at Lynch. We have moved out of the Tim Hansford yard in Bridgwater to a purpose built plant yard 2 miles up the road. This will give us far more control over our transport and fitting services which were previously contracted out to Tim Hansford before.

The North West move from Warrington to near Wigan to a much bigger more versatile yard of over 3 acres. Operations Director Mark Kennedy says “These changes give us far more control over the service levels we offer our customers and give us the scope to expand into these regions.” “It shows that Lynch are committed to being a National Plant Hire Company to service the growing expectations of our clients.”

Another positive move this month is the London Plant Desk and Key Accounts have settled in to the future Head Office in Boundary Way Hemel Hempstead. As you can see by some of the pictures we still have a lot to do but the plant yard and workshops are looking excellent, a complete change around from the original site with the whole site now concreted and fully operational. Progress has taken longer than expected due to planning with the front car park and the fuel tanks. We have also acquired another piece of land we didn’t expect to get so soon to extend the yard which put the full refurbishment back slightly but was well worth doing as it has made the yard one of the best plant yards you will see in the industry and the envy of many other hire companies. We will endeavour to keep everyone updated with any relevant changes via the company newsletter and intranet .

Lynch retain FORS Lynch Brothers Silver Accreditation complete Tough

Mudder challenge for lighthouse Charity

Lynch Plant hire & Haulage are delighted to again secure FORS Silver, this accreditation is important for Lynch because it shows another level of excellence and stands us out against other competitors. Group Transport manager Stephen Bremner said “This accreditation shows our commitment to road safety within our sector and our continuous improvement year on year”

Merrill, Darren and Robert Lynch have completed the tough mudder 12 mile assault course for the construction industry charity (the Lighthouse Club). Billed the toughest event on the planet there were many twist and turns on the day but working together they made it to the finishing post in 3h 25 mins raising £5,000. They have dedicated their achievement to their late mother Celia Lynch who was a Director of Lynch Plant for 30 years.

Operators Department: Born to Support You!

Lynch Plant hire is proud to have launched the operator’s department this month. “The team is long overdue”, commented company director Merrill Lynch. “We have grown 20% year on year over the past 5 years and operated plant has continued to grow. Our company has the vision to be the very best operated plant hire company nationwide. We can only reach this goal with the right support structure in the business and we believe now is the right time to launch this department at Lynch Plant Hire, we are positive in this winning format”. Merrill goes on to add, “Lynch Plant Hire currently employs around 600 800 operators during the peak season. The Operated plant is a key focus in our business and we must make the investment as a company for us to continue to grow in the correct manner. I am really looking forward to seeing the team at work from this month”. The directors have chosen Liam Moore, as the new National Operator Manager to head up the Team. “I am so very pleased to be taking on this new role, I have been an operator myself in the past, along with working my way up through the management ladder. I truly believe the only way to understand the requirements and needs of the frontline operatives is to have been there yourself and continue to have a finger on the pulse. I still attend sites on a regular basis to

speak to the team and even on occasion pull the odd lever in the operator’s seat! I really look forward to making a real difference, grow the frontline in the correct direction and support the operative’s development so they continue to feel part of an award winning team”. The new team will be based at South East offices in Dartford, Kent and will support our frontline operations nationwide. The key focuses of the department are: Operator recruitment and retention, apprenticeship scheme, personal training and coaching, operator assessment, emergency operator

cover and management, CPCS and sentinel compliance. Supporting of major projects and product training, and will become a crucial link to feedback operative information to the board of directors. We have the space at Dartford to have key training areas and assessment centre in the future and we are already working on a couple of projects. The team will also be working alongside the HGV compliance and training team. They already have a key number on 0208 900 9992 or email operatorhelp@l-lynch.com

Where have we been lately?

www.l-lynch.com

Ebbsfleet Football Stadium is currently closed for improvements where our machine is working. Currently basking in the sun, our machine is on hire to Davies Contractors & Civil Engineering who are contracted by the stadium to complete the works.

Lynch have provided a full range of equipment for Costain's rail project in Ashford, Kent. Working on the site are 14 tonne excavators, 5 tonne excavators, tracked dumpers and a dozer to name only some. Phase 1 completed, after 6 weeks we'll be back to embark on this 12 month project with full steam.

Our 5 tonne excavator is working away pushing sheet piles in at Barcombe Water Treatment Works for Bam Nomenca. The project is to excavate a pipeline to increase the bore for increased flow. This is one of many small projects across several water works as part of the AMP6 project. FLO (Ferrovial, Laing O'Rourke) have been working on the Northern Line extension for 18 months digging two 27m shafts not far from the Oval. This week Mark Scutt and Keval Dettani visit the site and were given a tour to see our excavators, tracked dumpers, Bobcats and tipper lorries hard at work. This is a very busy site where each shaft has a Lynch 20 tonne machine at the bottom and one at the top. Once the muck is craned out of the shaft it is loaded onto Lynch tippers to be hauled away.

Stobart Rail grading 6f2 at Tilbury Power Station where our excavator is preparing the aggregates as another Lynch tipper delivers the next load. Ultimately this will be a large concrete slab to hold the materials which will be burnt in the biomass power plant down the road.
