DISC GOLF COURSE Montgomery County Parks & Recreation has a 37-hole Disc Golf course for you to enjoy. This is a very unique course that consists of wooded fairways with a variety of elevation gains. Out of 4300 national public courses listed in the disc golf course database, Golden Hills is one of only 19 in the United States with 37 holes. Right here in your backyard! The course is free to play; all we ask is that you take out what you bring in. If you have any questions, give us a call at (540) 382-6975. Before you play The Rules: Throw a disc from tee to target over each hole of the course in the fewest throws. Each throw after the tee shot is addressed as a stroke from the lie of the previous throw. Discs thrown over fencing or stuck in a tree at least six feet high are considered a penalty stroke. Par for each 19hole course is 57. Remember to yield to trail users when crossing paths. Have fun and good luck! The Map: Follow the map (next page) through each 19-hole course - Golden Bear (blue line) or Black Bear (green line). The Scorecard: If you want to make it competitive - or you’re just curious how you compare to those pro disc golfers! - take a scorecard (on the back of the map) on the course with you.

WHITEWATER KAYAKING INSTRUCTION WEEKEND (ages 13+) DAY ONE - After we get you acquainted with your kayak and the rest of your gear, we will immediately get to work so that you feel in control of your boat. The fist day of instruction will take place in calm, user-friendly water. We will practice getting in and out of the boat and focus on balance, body, mechanics, strokes, turns and leans. Learning to ‘wet exit’ and practicing the ‘eskimo rescue’ will help you find a comfort zone in your kayak even when you are upside down! A day of practice will help you build a perfect foundation of smart paddling habits that are grounded in good technique. DAY TWO - We start putting the basics of what we learned on Day One to work in a scenic 8.5-mile, Class II section of the New River. We will review the paddling skills you learned and introduce new ones that will allow you to maneuver your kayak more efficiently. You will use the river to focus on the dynamics of currents, peel-outs, eddy turns, steering, balance and bracing in currents. All equipment, instruction and transportation are provided.
