Enjoy Swanpool

Just outside Benalla lies the idyllic country community of Swanpool.

A traditional Victorian town close to stunning waterfalls, tracks and gorgeous views. The General Store has an extensive menu and wine selections with a rustic beer garden. The front fence fl aunts murals on each side — one depicting the history of the town and the other side showing a historic account of Ned Kelly’s travels.

In the heart of town there’s the ‘Swan Pavilion’ with a new park with native plantings.

If wineries are more your scene, head east for a fi ve-minute drive from Swanpool to Kooyonga Creek Wines, a family owned boutique winery.

For garden lovers Samaria Farm is just down the road and features 3000 Damask roses. Samaria Farm houses a distillery which produces high quality essential oils and hydrosols with products for personal and home use incorporating rose, lemon and lime – all handpicked and hand bottled on the farm.

Samaria Farm is open for group bookings and workshops by appointment only. The real hidden gem of Swanpool is the marvelous cinema in the original town hall. It’s one of the few cinemas that still has the old carbon arc glass advertising slides and 16 and 35 mm projectors. Today though it screens the best of contemporary arthouse and quality movies.
