Enjoy Glenrowan
Enjoy Glenrowan wine region
A relaxing drive to Glenrowan would not be complete without a visit to the region’s award-winning wineries and the brewery.
A short drive from the local North East Victoria Silo Art Trail, close to the Winton Wetlands and bordering the Warby Ovens National Park, the beauty of the Glenrowan Wine Region and the natural vistas will captivate. The aged vineyards nestled on the western foothills of the Warby Range have wide views over the valley across to the wetlands and beyond while on the eastern slopes the panoramic prospect of the Victorian Alps from the cellar door is breathtaking. While Shiraz is the signature wine of the region all the wineries are producing interesting blends and styles from other varietals.
Situated just 2 kilometres from the Glenrowan township, the wine, winery and cellar door at Morrisons delights visitors. Enjoy a seasonal tasting plate with a glass of Tempranillo, Durif, Rosé or Fiano in a secluded garden spot or from an elevated platform to take in the views. Not to be missed, Baileys of Glenrowan is located a short drive out of Glenrowan. With iconic red wines and highly acclaimed fortified wines, Baileys also feature a contemporary art gallery, museum and weekend lunches at their Bundarra Organic Kitchen. Coffee available daily at the cellar door.
At Booths Taminick Cellars visitors can taste a wide selection of full-flavoured reds, refreshing whites and luscious fortified wines. With aged vines planted in 1919 and a family winemaking history spanning four generations, the winery also offers bed and breakfast accommodation in a selfcontained two bedroom cottage.
Try the craft beers of Black Dog Brewery, which are brewed on premise at Booths. There is sure to be something on the brewer’s list to please the palate with four core beers in the range and specialty brews created for the hop and malt connoisseur.
The nearby national park offers great adventures on foot or by bike. Explore the region’s walking trails along the Mt Glenrowan Lookout Walk, The Moonlight Track and the Warby Falls Heritage Trail then drop by the welcoming cellar doors and brewery. Glenrowan Wine Region hosts their annual Trails, Tastings & Tales Food and Wine Festival on the June long weekend.

Historic Glenrowan is a short drive from Benalla on the Hume Highway and is best known for being the place where Ned Kelly made his notorious ‘Last Stand’.
Glenrowan was named after farmers James and George Rowan who ran farms in the area between 1846 and 1858. The township was settled in the late 1860s. The Post Office opening on February 22, 1870.
