Expo is the ultimate wedding event COUPLES looking to tie the knot in 2018 and beyond will be heading to the Echuca-Moama Wedding Expo for all the latest and greatest in information. And this year, one lucky couple will have the opportunity to win a 'Winter Wedding', valued at $15,000. The package includes the venue for the ceremony and reception for three days, from major sponsor Tindarra Resort. It includes a basic beverage package and Two Tarts catering will provide a food package for 40 guests to be used in the winter of 2019 (June, July or August — exact dates subject to availability). Other businesses including Etain Celebrant and Tracy's Cakes will supply services to complete the package, but the winner must be present at the expo to claim the prize, which will be drawn immediately after the fashion parade. The Expo, on Sunday, May 27 at the Echuca Basketball Stadium, is home to more than 70 exhibitors and there isn't a detail that is missed — from gowns and suits to cake makers and event stylists, musicians and makeup artist to entertainment and florists,

Perricoota Station proved the perfect fit WHEN Kailee and Scott Howson met in the backyard at a friend's place, they had no idea how much they had in common. Or that it would one day lead to them getting married in Echuca — one of their favourite holiday destinations. Their shared love of camping meant any spare weekend the couple had, they would pack their bags and head up to Echuca-Moama. “We both spent our school holidays camping there, but never came across each other,” Kailee said. When it came time to tie the knot the couple knew it was only a matter of finding the right place in their beloved Echuca-Moama. The couple looked at a few wedding venues but it was Perricoota Station that stole their hearts. “We came for a weekend to look around at a few different venues but in the back of my mind I knew Perricoota Station was the place for us. Shed and the homestead — it was all amazing. “I didn't have to convince Scott, he loved it as well and it was certainly the perfect fit for the rustic theme we wanted.” Kailee said her dad's family is Italian so she was a little concerned about the size of the wedding. “We managed to keep numbers around 130, which was a pretty solid effort.” The day didn't disappoint and the couple were very happy with the way everything went. “The girls stayed upstairs and the boys were downstairs. I was really calm but apparently Scott was petrified and really struggling,” she laughed. The couple didn't know if they would be having a mint green 1959 Chevrolet turn up for their photos until the morning of the wedding, once that was confirmed Scott was much more relaxed. >>

>> “The car was at the mechanic's the morning of the wedding but once it turned up it took away all the nerves. We are so glad it came, it really made the photos.” Kailee elected to go with Chloe Jones photography while flowers were done by Lisa from Wallingford. The ceremony was held at 3.30 pm and the couple chose to have their photos taken in and around the homestead. “The Perricoota van served refreshments to the guests, canapes were passed around and we had lawn games to keep everyone entertained until the reception which began at 6.30 pm.” That was held in the Packing Shed and the cake was made by Tracy's Cakes. “The food was amazing. Our guests had a choice of entrée, main and dessert — the meals were massive and it was just the perfect place. “It was the best day ever.” ¢

Special place, special day, special memories ECHUCA holds a special place in the hearts of Chloe and Dan Kavanagh. The couple grew up here and first crossed paths when they met as teenagers at Echuca High School. That was 12 years ago and the happy couple have been together ever since. They moved out of home when they were 19 and built their first home three years ago. After a two-year engagement, the only thing left to do was tie the knot

and they did that in style, surrounded by family and friends on Chloe's Grammy and Pa's property at Wunghnu — in their beautiful garden. “The block has been in my Grammy's family for 100 years. She was a florist and has such a beautiful garden so it was nice to celebrate that as part of our wedding,” Chloe said. Chloe described the wedding as a chilled out and relaxing affair, with lots of laughter and a few tears. “Our ceremony was very casual and

didn't go for very long.” Chloe arrived at the ceremony in her dad's 1928 Model A Ford Roadster. “Dad has had the Roadster for 15 years and it has been a fairly big part of our lifestyle over that time. We go hot-rodding once a year as a family and dad had a huge smile on his face when I arrived at the ceremony in it, he was very proud.” The Roadster even featured in the wedding photos, which were taken by Erica Smith from Mathoura. >>

>> Chloe decided to add a little fun to her photographs, purchasing a black leather jacket online, with the words 'Just Married' on the back. Flowers were by Clementine. After the nuptials the couple and their guests headed into the Moama Bowling Club for the reception. “We decided on the Bowling Club because they seemed happy to have us and happy to let us do what we wanted in terms of decorating. I did all the decorations myself and we went with a rose gold and black colour scheme with red gum and candles.” Guests had a delicious two-course meal and were treated to doughnuts and cake for sweets. “Dan and I love doughnuts so we had 90 of them, along with a cake.” Chloe said the Bowling Club's wedding planner Cindy was helpful, but really nice and laidback, which made planning the reception easy and stress free. And she said the wedding day was everything she thought it would be. “We had such a great time and I am so glad we held it in Echuca. We did have thoughts of maybe going to Bright (another family favourite destination) but Grammy's garden was just perfect and too good to pass up. It was also easy for family and friends “We had a beautiful day, weather wise, and it was just perfect.” The couple chose to honeymoon in Tasmania and have another holiday planned for this year. ¢ ECHUCA-MOAMA WEDDINGS | 2018 17

Hawaiian honeymoon just the ticket A HONEYMOON is as an important tradition as the wedding day itself. For many couples it provides a muchneeded time of relaxation after what can at times be quite a stressful event. When Echuca couple Amber and Greg Young took off to Hawaii five days after their own wedding, in December last year, they were well and truly looking for some time out and a chance to enjoy a new country. “We had a really great time and there were so many things to do,” Amber said. Highlights of the trip included a visit to Pearl Harbour and a hike up to Diamond Head volcanic crater. “We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn, which was nice. It wasn't right on the beach but it had a beautiful city view and was really central. We could walk all around Waikiki and we were within walking distance of the beautiful beach.” Amber said time constraints prevented the couple from staying any longer than a week, but that gave them enough time to see the highlights of Honolulu. “We jumped on a bus and did a tour around Oahu which included a visit to a pineapple plantation and a really nice shrimp place. “We spent a morning at Pearl harbour which was very moving. The history, the battleship and the film clips from back then made it all an emotional experience. We visited the memorial and I would highly recommend that.” Amber said they could easily walk to the shops and they also hiked up Diamond Head. >> ECHUCA-MOAMA WEDDINGS | 2018 21

>> “That took a couple of hours and was a lot harder than we thought it was going to be, but it was well worth it — the views were spectacular.” Other highlights of the trip included a visit to the sea life park and the Chief's Luau. “The Luau was really entertaining. We got to see all the different dances from the other islands and we got to make our own crown, it was a fun afternoon. “We loved Hawaii and we would

certainly recommend it, it was beautiful. There is a good mix of things to get out and view but it is also an awesome place to relax as well. The food was awesome as well, classic American proportions but delicious.” Amber and Greg are no strangers to travel. They have visited a number of places including Europe but they always book their trips through Helloworld Travel, Echuca.

“We have organised all our trips through Helloworld and have never had a problem. They always suggest things to do and I would highly recommend them to anybody. “When we went to Europe there was all that trouble in Turkey and they were able to change our plans last minute.” Amber said it was relaxing to know that everything was organised and if they had a problem (which they didn't) Helloworld was just a phone call away. ¢

The girls were up one end and the boys the other; and our family was able to stay which worked out well too.” In front of their 115 guests, Lauren and Gavin were married alongside the river and held their reception in a marquee at the Riverside Bar. “We had a cocktail style wedding with a huge grazing table. Two Tarts did the catering and took food around all night, it was very relaxed and casual and so much fun.” The weather was perfect for the couple who chose to host their nuptials at 3.30 pm. “It was overcast and conditions were just perfect for the photos, which were taken by Monica from Love by Shae. We are not very photogenic but she made us laugh a lot and we were very comfortable with her.” Flowers were by Wallingford, makeup was done by Molly from Willow Tree and hair by Bec from MintMe Salon. The red velvet naked cake was made by Tracy's Cakes. “Having our wedding in Echuca gave our family and friends a weekend away from our hometown. idea which meant we could all hit the water the next day for a ski,” Teagan laughed.

It has featured heavily in their lives through their joint love of skiing and wakeboarding so it was only natural it would feature on their wedding day.

Teagan said getting married on the riverbank was relaxing and exactly what they were looking for.

Choosing to host their special day in Moama, at Bright on the Murray, the Kyabram couple were delighted they could exchange their vows on the banks of the river they both love. “Justin arrived by boat with his two groomsmen. He was very keen on that

“We weren't really after a traditional function centre. “We wanted everything outdoors and it was just so beautiful and we didn't have to do a thing. It was fantastic and just so easy — all we had to do was carry the chairs from the ceremony to the reception around the pool.” >>

>> Keeping with the relaxed theme of the day, cocktail food was passed around throughout the reception to keep guests chatting and mingling. “Our day was just perfect. It was so much better than I thought it was going to be. It was just so relaxed and so much fun and I really think the venue had a lot to do with that.” The flowers were arranged by Lisa from Wallingford Flowers and included a beautiful riverside floral arbour and random jars of flowers placed around the reception. A giant Connect 4 made by Justin kept guests entertained, along with Jenga and bocce. “We are definitely river and summer people and I think we captured that love for our wedding.” Teagan said when she was young her parents had a holiday house at Mathoura and many great times were spent on the river. “It's great to think we live in Kyabram but have such a great holiday place like Echuca only 25 minutes away, we don't have to go very far to have a great time.” ¢ ECHUCA-MOAMA WEDDINGS | 2018 35

And despite being together for almost five years — and both of our families being in on the secret for months — my answer is yes. I had no idea. Not even one tiny; miniscule little inkling. I didn't even clue on when I arrived back to our villa in Thailand to find Dylan dressed to the nines in his new suit.

Help yourself to a slice of h�stor� NOVEMBER is a beautiful time of the year to get married in the twin towns, just ask Kirsty and Jake Stevens. The couple chose the iconic Echuca Wharf as the backdrop for their wedding last year and it was then just a short stroll across the street to Radcliffe's for the reception. “Hands down it was the best day — it was fun and casual with a rustic, country feel,' Kirsty said. The country feel came from the addition of Jake's prized Landcruiser ute as the wedding car — despite the small degree of difficulty it posed for Kirsty to get in and out of — in her

wedding dress. “Jake's dual cab is his most prized possession. A mate had another one so we decided to make the most of it and use these expensive vehicles as part of the wedding. “They cleaned up really well and Jake had a few people comment on how nice his Cruiser is. This was his only input which was nice because everything else is always about the girls, flowers and dresses.” The couple moved to Echuca from Charlton six years ago so they chose a destination that was central and easy for their guests. >>

Our guests had drinks upstairs at Ceres and then wandered down to Radcliffe's for the reception, it was simple and easy for everyone. “I love the feel of Radcliffe's. We got that rustic feel we love, with a roof over our heads so it didn't matter what the weather was like outside and their food is superb.” The couple had a sit down two-course meal and decided to have a buffet dessert bar stacked with wedding cake (made by Suttons Bakery) and slices made by family members. “We are not over-the-top people. The cake was simple and we just put some flowers on it and a sign made from Kasoobi. “The dessert bar was a real success. It is so easy to bake a couple of slices and people love homemade food. There was barely anything left, people were helping themselves even before the meal came out.” Kirsty purchased her dress from Michelle's Bridal in Shepparton and the boys were fitted out in clothes from RM Williams. Lisa from Wallingford did the flowers for the couple, who chose a soft burgundy and cream palette. “The flowers had some soft natives, they were not formal but soft and beautiful, they looked amazing.” Makeup was done by Courtney Edger Freelance Makeup and hair was by Blush Hair Room. “We used a lot of local people who were really good and enjoyable to work with.
