New can line opened Jamestrong Packaging Kyabram’s plant is one of five manufacturing facilities in Australia and New Zealand and currently employs 52 people. The Australasian business employs around 350 people and generates turnover in excess of 200 million AUD. Jamestrong is a new name in the packaging world and was established early in 2015 when Ardagh, a European based packaging business, divested its Australasian business to Shanghai Yuanlong Investment Company Ltd. Shanghai Yuanlong
management has a rich pedigree in metal packaging over the last 20 years and are proving to be a very progressive owner of the business, showing its desire to invest in and grow the business. In August 2015 Jamestrong purchased a 6,500 sqm positive air pressure warehouse immediately adjacent to the manufacturing plant in Kyabram, with plans to install an additional infant formula can line. Jamestrong has just completed the project to install the new infant formula can line in this building designed to meet the increasing volume needs of our customers. This $8 million investment follows the recent $13 million investment in a world-best KBA
Metal Star 3 metal printer and will offer our customers a world-best print and can making supply chain. The new can line has been specified to meet the current and future requirements of the infant formula category. It will be set up with formally zoned hygiene-controlled areas meeting the highest food safety expectations of our customers. The line will be fitted with in-line leak testing, air rinsing of cans, as well as state-of-the-art vision systems designed to comprehensively inspect for internal and external faults. The project to install and commission this line completed June 2016. It has been dedicated exclusively to the manufacture of
infant formula cans enabling optimum security of secondary packaging. The Kyabram plant has been supplying infant formula cans to the Australian marketplace for over 25 years and is excited to continue its leadership in this category with this new investment. Jamestrong Packaging is very pleased to be able to invest in country Victoria and develop its manufacturing footprint. In order to mark the significance of this investment to the plant and all the relevant stakeholders Jamestrong Packaging had a “Grand Opening” event on Thursday, June 16, 2016 to which a number of senior representatives of stakeholders were invited.
