Moulamein
Perched on the banks of the Edward River and framed by a stunning stretch of towering river gums, Moulamein is the oldest town in the Riverina.
These days it’s a popular camping and fishing destination, but back in the middle of the 19th century it was the most important administrative centre in the Riverina.
Its rich history, dating back to the 1830s, includes stories of the early settlers, river transport, railways, shearers, farmers, the meeting of the rivers, and more.
Home to around 300 people, Moulamein is just an hour drive from Koondrook, Deniliquin and Swan Hill, making it easy to get to, as well as providing an ideal weekend or day trip destination.
You’ll find plenty of spots to pitch a tent or drop a boat in along the Edward, Wakool and Niemur rivers, along with the Billabong Creek.
