Benefits of living in a housing estate
Editor’s note When looking at options for purchasing our first home, my husband and I were definitely drawn to the idea of a housing estate property — one estate in particular for the beautiful manicured gardens along the streets and the other for the sparkling water views. Not to mention the beautiful big homes with ample land surrounding them and the opportunity to design your dream home from scratch. This was made further enticing again due to the various government rebates for building a first home, which would have allowed us to get onto the property ladder either months earlier or with a significantly larger house deposit. In the end we went with an established home because after a decade of renting, and with an expiring lease to an undesirable rental coming up, we just wanted to leave the renting chapter of our lives behind. We were also fortunate to find a home that had everything we needed, and was fairly new and even more recently renovated, but I am aware that this is not often the case for many people. If it were not for these factors I am sure we would have been favouring a housing estate home.
