The Echuca Moama Sportstar of the Year The contest is a sponsored venture for the parties to promote and encourage sport in the area served by the Riverine Herald. Senior Sportstar of the Year - Monthly winners receive a Dinner voucher from Moama Bowling , two tickets to the Awards Dinner, overall winner receives $2,000 travel voucher for Travelscene Echuca and $500 from the Moama Bowling Club. Junior Sportstar of the Year - Monthly winners receive Dinner voucher from Moama Bowling, two tickets to the Awards Dinner ,overall winner receives $500 Coaching voucher from Moama Bowling Club Selections The Senior and Junior Sportstar monthly winner/s is awarded to an individual/s who have achieved outstanding results at, Club, State, National or International level. Sporting feats would have ideally been performed in the period of the calendar month under discussion. Selections each month are made from published items in the newspaper detailing the feats of a particular sports person. Complete details of a particular sporting performance can be submitted in writing to the judging panel to facilitate selection. Junior nominees must be under age of 18 at the end of the month for which they are nominated. The fields of sport for the drawing of sports stars is all inclusive. Both amateur and professional sports persons are eligible. Nominees for the awards must be a resident or/have been a resident in the Riverine Herald circulation area. However if the nominee has moved out of the Riverine Herald circulation area they must represent a sporting club or individual within the circulation of the Riverine Herald to be eligible. Students attending tertiary education are still deemed to reside at family address. This will be left to the discretion of the Judging Committee. However the sporting achievements may occur outside the area Professionals competing overseas would need to demonstrate that his/her home address was within the Riverine Herald circulation area for at least 6 months of the calendar year for which they have been nominated. The selection of the sport stars of the year are made from the monthly sports stars only. The Sport star of the year are selected in February immediately prior (or as near as practical) to the presentation dinner. A sports person having won two Senior or two Junior Sportstar of the year awards is no longer eligible for consideration as a Sportstar, however if the achievement has been made in another sport (must be a significant change and left to the Judges discretion), then that person is eligible for the award. Juniors are eligible to win a maximum of two junior and two senior awards within the same sport. This does not preclude the panel from using its discretion to make an additional award in exceptional circumstances.
