Run, Cohuna, run!

THE ANNUAL COHUNA BRIDGE TO BRIDGE RETURNS IN MARCH TO CELEBRATE 30 YEARS OF TRAIL RUNS AND FAMILY FUN IN SUPPORT OF A GOOD CAUSE.

This year’s Cohuna Bridge to Bridge will be held on Sunday, March 5, with participants from across Victoria and interstate competing in a variety of events during the day.

Continuing on from previous years’ success, there will be several run, walk or cycle options for all — regardless of age or ability.

Participants can opt for a half marathon (21.1 km), 12.5 km run or walk, 50 km cycle or 25 km cycle on a flat non-technical trail through the beautiful Gunbower Forest.

The 1 km Kids K and 6.5 km junior cycle is available for children wanting to be actively involved in the race day spirit.

There are also activities and entertainment at the event village, located in Apex Park.

While waiting to cheer family members or friends across the line, enjoy the live music, grab a bite from one of the food trucks and have a browse through the market stalls.

Event director Kirstin Nicholson is excited to commemorate the past 30 years with a nostalgic reflection on where it all began.

“We’re inviting the original instigators of the Bridge to Bridge, they’re all local and big supporters of the event since its inception,” she said.

“We’ve also asked people for photos of previous events, for us to organise a photo board of memorabilia to look at.

“Hopefully next year there’ll be a published book including this year’s event to commemorate the 30-year milestone.“

All proceeds from the event are donated to Cohuna District Hospital.

“We’ve been roughly hitting the $18,000 mark each year,” Kirstin said.

“It would be nice to aim for $20,000.” r• Classic memories to modern classics

The donations from the event fund the needs of the community as designated by the hospital.

“It’s really good to know that the money goes towards facilities that we all may personally use at some point in our lives,” Kirstin said.

Online registrations are now open at: bridgetobridge.org.au/enter/ and close on Saturday, March 4 at 3 pm. On-the-day entries will not be accepted.
