Hop to it at Easter
EASTER WILL COME ALIVE IN ECHUCA-MOAMA WITH EVENTS FOR EVERY AGE, WHETHER THIS IS YOUR FIRST TRIP TO THE DISTRICT OR IT’S BEEN YOUR FAMILY’S HOLIDAY HOT SPOT FOR DECADES.
A trip to this iconic family friendly destination has become a tradition that has been passed down the generations, just like the family of Echuca Moama Tourism deputy chair Jason Clymo.
“I know before I moved here I was one of those people, with my family holidaying here for 30 years before we moved here we came every single year,” Jason said.
“There is something really special going on in Echuca-Moama which brings people back.
“It reminds them of all the amazing reasons why EchucaMoama and surrounds is a brilliant place to visit.
“A lot of people would call it their favourite place to visit, there is heaps going on in Echuca-Moama and the surrounding towns in autumn.”
Around the town the Easter Bunny will be popping his head up at the annual LJ Hooker Easter Egg Hunt on Good Friday.
On Easter Saturday you will find all the usual stalls with pre-loved books, preserves and craft from the Wool and Craft group at the Echuca Moama Uniting Church makers’ market.
The Echuca-Moama market will be on Easter Sunday, with a giant array of farm-picked fresh produce, craft and homemade goods.
For the sports-loving family, the Echuca
Lawn Tennis Club will hold its annual Easter Tournament.
Teams of mixed doubles, doubles and singles will compete in this round robin event over the Easter long weekend.
Or drive just down the road where the Kyabram Lawn Tennis Club is also holding its famous Easter Tournament over the weekend.
Echuca Harness Racing Club will host the annual Easter Sunday meet, with a giant Easter egg hunt and kids’ activities to keep the little ones entertained while you enjoy your time at the track. To really immerse yourself in the action, make sure to check out the local footy with Echuca United and Moama going head-to-head in their annual Easter clash at Echuca South Recreation Reserve on Good Friday.
A little further afield from Echuca-Moama and worth the drive there are many free family-friendly events two of which are on the following pages. For those after a bargain, the Girgarre Farmers’ Produce and Craft Market and the Stanhope Monster Garage Sale are both on Easter Sunday. Of all the events in autumn in Echuca-Moama, Jason is especially looking forward to the Southern 80 waterski race and the Wedding and Events Festival.
“We have a real breadth of different types of events and things you can do here on a weekend or weekday stay in autumn,” he said.
“There are actually a lot of things to do that would appeal to everyone; something to interest everyone.”
