Dear Parents, Welcome to another great Key Club year! We are so excited to work with your children and help build our community together. Key Club is a community service club that is sponsored by Kiwanis. Kiwanis is the adultbased nonprofit organization that has set up Key Club International, which overlooks many clubs across America. Mt. Carmel Key Club is part of the California Nevada and Hawaii District, which is just one of 33 districts. This is a big club! This year we plan to do many fun and unique events for our members, including volunteering at elementary schools for carnivals, and helping out at walks that support organizations such as the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. We also will be continuing our monthly service projects including St. Vincent de Paul (feeding the homeless), Carmel Mountain Rehabilitation Center (visiting the elderly patients), Helen Woodward Animal Shelter (assisting with events), and many more! Yearly we take part in Festival of Lights at the Wild Animal Park, Rose Floats decorating, and Relay for Life fundraiser. Our club has about 200 members and we meet every Wednesday during lunch in the Mt. Carmel gym. We inform the members about upcoming events and other vital information. This year, due to the chaos after meetings, we are going to be doing online signups so your child will be able to access information at home. Our website, www.mchskeyclub.org, is going to be our main source of communication where there will be more information about events, officers, and pictures! Leadership opportunities are also available for members and will be available throughout the year. Many of our events require travel by car, and we would love for you parents to help us out! This club is not only about the involvement of the members but the involvement of parents! We would really appreciate parents volunteering to drive to events. All drivers will meet at Mt. Carmel before the event to carpool with other Key Clubbers, get directions, and then they are off to the event! Your child with receive an hour of community service for you driving. If you would like to chaperone an event, you definitely can! Just let us know, and we would love to have parents involved! As mentioned, our club is sponsored by the PQ Kiwanis, which is the adult version of Key Club. They would love to have you join their service based club, and get involved in the community as well. Please let us know if you are interested. Thank you so much for your support! I know that we will have a lot of fun together bringing about a change for the future.
