Welcome to the 2025 Baseball Season!
Founded 1950, Mater Dei High School’s first priority was to place a statue of the Blessed Mother in the Grotto. Seven decades later, this statue is our daily reminder that Mary, Mater Dei (Mother of God) is the first disciple and perfect example of Honor, Glory, and Love. Inspired by our devotion to Mary, our mission will always be to form faithful and compassionate servant leaders through the development of each student’s heart, soul, and mind.
The why behind our mission is simple. Our young Monarchs must develop the necessary values, skills, and habit patterns to ethically navigate this beautiful but complicated world. While most secondary schools focus solely on academic knowledge, Mater Dei High School will continue to intentionally embed Catholic beliefs and the tradition of Honor, Glory, and Love into every aspect of the student experience. Our pursuit to help students move beyond academic knowledge and, with intention, holistically develop their will to choose goodness will never cease
While pursuing excellence within the baseball program is our objective, let us never forget that achieving our mission is the primary goal. Each Monarch baseball player must actively utilize life lessons (Honor, Glory and Love) learned during weightlifting, practice, games and after games. These baseball life lessons support each Monarch’s journey towards achieving goodness. Mater Dei High School dedicates itself to the philosophy that baseball is another element designed to perfect the person (become a Monarch) and their relationship with Christ.
On behalf of the Mater Dei Faculty and Staff, thank you to our Head Baseball Coach, Mr. Richard Mercado, his coaching staff, and all members of the baseball family. Your commitment and loyalty towards each Monarch and Mater Dei High School is deeply appreciated. We are also grateful that you chose to attend the game and pray that our young men and the teams we compete against will remain safe. Our only request to those in attendance is to please emulate Mary Mater Dei’s qualities of humility, empathy, and service to others.
With Honor, Glory, and Love,
Michael P. Brennan President

As we prepare for the 2025 season, we are excited to compete for a Division 1 CIF title and defend our Boras Classic title. Last season, we won the Boras South and State Championships. This year, we face some top competition in the country again.
While we graduated many senior hitters, we have a solid core of returning players and young athletes ready to contribute. Our pitching staff remains a strength and one of the most talented around. We also have an exciting group of freshmen and some JV players on the rise, with a few who could make an impact on varsity this year.
Mater Dei Baseball focuses on developing players both on and off the field. We are building a community based on dedication and hard work. Our program prides itself on having high standards, accountability within our program. Our culture reflects the proud tradition of Mater Dei Baseball. I appreciate the families and players who support our program and help maintain our high standards.
Our JV and freshman teams continue to produce and develop players that will become varsity starters. Some of these young players will have an opportunity to make an impact on varsity this year.
To our alumni and supporters, thank you for your ongoing support.
As we start the 2025 season, I wish our players the best. Let’s take on the challenges and make it a great year.
Here’s to a successful season ahead!
