BOX OFFICE - 0116 255 1302 www.thelittletheatre.net 6
This powerful and evocative historical drama explores the life of the man who broke too many codes: his major role in breaking the complex Enigma code in World War II and his conviction for homosexuality, the sentence for which left him mentally and physically debilitated. Now regarded as the father of modern computers, or Turing machines, he committed suicide in 1954, aged only 41, forgotten and alone. This is about who he was, what happened to him and why.

MONDAY 9 - SATURDAY 14 NOVEMBER 2015 BY GRAHAM LINEHAM DIRECTED BY JOHN GHENT FARCICAL COMEDY From the Motion Picture Screenplay by William Rose by Special Arrangement with StudioCanal & by Special Arrangement with Fiery Angel Ltd, London.
Criminal mastermind Professor Marcus, together with his motley crew of misfit villains, pose as a classical string quintet when they rent a rehearsal room from sweetly eccentric Mrs. Wilberforce in her rickety old house, so conveniently situated next to the railway station they plan to rob. But they have reckoned without their landlady, the redoubtable Mrs. Wilberforce, and her parrot General Gordon, for she is not as gullible as they at first imagine. With his plan rumbled, the professor decides that it is Mrs. W who must face the music. This stage adaptation of the much-loved Ealing Comedy is ingenious, irresistible and riotously funny.

ROPE A psychological thriller based on real events
MONDAY 18 - SATURDAY 23 JANUARY 2016 BY PATRICK HAMILTON DIRECTED BY STEVE KANTOR A PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER BASED ON REAL EVENTS
For the mere sake of adventure, danger, and the “sheer fun of the thing”, Wyndham persuades his weak minded friend, Charles, to assist him in murdering Ronald, a perfectly harmless fellow undergraduate. After placing the body in a wooden chest, they add to the thrill by inviting many acquaintances, including Ronald’s father, to a party where the “dead man’s chest” serves as the supper table. From this point, the tension and horror continues to build until the play’s final shocking conclusion. First produced in 1929, Rope was adapted into a film by Hitchcock in 1948 and remains to this day a classic of the thriller genre.

In an empty New York apartment, three troubled friends meet to search for clues about what happened between their parents decades before. 30 years earlier in the same apartment, their parents - the same actors in double roles - fight the tragedy which will echo through their children’s lives. Deeply touching but filled with wit, this Pulitzer Prize nominated drama starred Colin Firth in the West End and Julia Roberts on Broadway. It has been acclaimed as one of the finest American plays of modern times.

IDOLS CELEBRATING 60 YEARS This year The IDOLS (Infirmary Dramatic, Operatic and Literary Society) is celebrating 60 years of presenting musical theatre to Leicester audiences.
Based at The Leicester Royal Infirmary (LRI) the IDOLS has always strived to present the best shows possible at The Little Theatre and is confident that this year’s audience will have that same positive experience. In recent years they have brought to the stage popular classics such as Singin’ In The Rain, The King and I and Hello Dolly as well as lesser known shows such as Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, The Producers and Jekyll and Hyde.
All profits from the society help to fund projects at the LRI and, over the years, this has amounted to tens of thousands of pounds. This year, to celebrate its 60th year, they also plan to raise money for another charity, The Alzheimer’s Society and, with this in mind they have compiled a unique show with music from a range of shows. Some of the songs you will hear are from shows that they would normally be unable to perform whilst others are popular reprises from the last 60 years. The story tells of the memories evoked by a Scrapbook and the sometimes blurred recollections of shows performed here and in London during the last six decades. They hope that there will be something for everyone in this unique show rekindling memories through their Musical Scrapbook and your support will help them reach their target for The Alzheimer’s Society. You can all enjoy a night at the theatre whilst supporting a very worthwhile charity.
