Following last year’s sell-out success, Cinderella, we now bring you the story of Puss in Boots, based on the original fable by Charles Perrault. Set in the sunny Seville orange groves of old Spain, you will discover how our feline hero, Puss, resplendent in a pair of magical boots, transforms his master’s fate from rags to riches, allowing him to marry his true love, the Princess Isabella. Let’s just hope that he’s accepted by his new mother in-law, the hilarious Dame, Queen Melinda Marmalade of Marmaladia. BOX OFFICE - 0116 255 1302 BOOK ONLINE - WWW.THELITTLETHEATRE.NET

Monday 29 September – Saturday 4 October 2014 Directed by Jason Burridge Helen and Jo. Not a typical mother/daughter relationship. Helen constantly looks for a way of elevating them out of their life of drudgery. Jo is a schoolgirl of tremendous spirit, despite the lack of maternal love and support. In Helen’s absence she finds a substitute amongst men considered social outcasts. She becomes pregnant and soon faces stigma and judgement from the outside world, which she deals with, with humour and optimism. A groundbreaking modern classic of British plays, A Taste of Honey still packs an emotional punch despite society moving on from the taboos it so boldly challenged in the mid 20th century. 9
Monday 20 – Saturday 25 October 2014 Directed by Stephanie Liggins Following the death of their father, his daughters Marion and Isobel must settle his Estate and safeguard the future of his younger wife, their stepmother Katherine. While Isobel, a partner in a design firm, takes pains to plan a fair and agreeable resolution, Marion, a determined and ambitious Junior Minister, views the situation quite differently. However, Katherine comes up with a far more radical proposal. The resulting power-play and undermining gamesmanship affects them all and those closest to them, with devastating consequences.

Monday 10 – Saturday 15 November 2014 Directed by John Ghent Staged as part of the World War One (1914-18) Centenary commemorations. “It was late in the evening when we came at last to our journey’s end.” First staged in 1928 with a young Laurence Olivier, this intensely affecting play is an uncompromising, clear-eyed view of war, showing with remarkable insight and humour how British Army officers faced life in the trenches towards the end of WW1. The entire story plays out in the officers’ dugout over four days from 18 March 1918 to 21 March 1918, during the run-up to the real-life events of Operation Michael.

THE STORY OF RUTH ELLIS... A gripping drama of the last person to be hanged in Britain
15
Monday 2 – Saturday 7 February 2015 Directed by Andrew Joshi Ruth Ellis was the last woman to be hanged in Britain, convicted of the cold-blooded killing of her unfaithful lover. This gripping new play takes a fresh look at the real woman behind the headlines and at the events that drive her to murder.
DRA
MA
A divorcee with a young child to care for, Ruth works in the kind of nightclubs where there’s more than just a drink on offer. The girls work hard, play hard and dream of a movie-star life. Then she meets the wealthy, womanising David, a racing driver with whom she becomes obsessed. Fame comes but not in the way she imagines. Why does their relationship end in murder? Why does she plead not guilty but offer no defence? Why does she show no remorse? And just who is she trying to protect?
