Action Graphics, Inc. Chairman of the Board of Advisors, Meadowlands Regional Chamber Good evening and welcome to the 42nd Annual Meadowlands Regional Chamber Awards Gala. Tonight we celebrate the continued growth of our region, recognizing four exceptional individuals who help pave the way. Julie Wainwright, Lloyd Rosenberg, Bruce Markowitz and Tom Bracken have taken different paths, helping to fuel the economic engine of the Greater Meadowlands Region. While traveling different roads, choosing the Meadowlands as a final destination leaves an impact heard throughout the region and state. Tonight is our opportunity to acknowledge their contributions and say thanks to what they have done and continue to do. Leaders come in many different forms. In addition to tonight’s honorees, I want to recognize our Operating Committee Members of our Board of Advisors. This group of leaders has demonstrated wisdom and knowledge, resulting in our Chamber being recognized as one of the top business organizations in the state of New Jersey. I encourage this special group to continue your work as we witness the business community expand and grow. It is with gratitude I recognize our Gala chairman, Frank Recine, and his Gala committee. It should be no surprise that tonight’s event planning began one year ago, the day after our 2014 Gala. Finally, with respect and love, I want to thank our Chamber staff led by our CEO Jim Kirkos. This core group of individuals has a passion and drive that do the work of a staff twice their size. Each of them has carved their own leadership skills. I invite tonight’s attendees to also thank them for their dedication and commitment. Without all the leaders mentioned in my welcoming remarks, we would just be another Chamber. Rick Dabagian

Julie Wainwright is transforming the luxury resale marketplace and buying habits of luxury shoppers through The RealReal, the premier online luxury consignment site. Julie was an e-commerce pioneer as CEO of Reel.com in 1997 and Pets.com in 1999. In 2014 she was named one of Tech Crunches “40 Over 40� Silicon Valley entrepreneurs, and was recognized by The San Francisco Business Times as one of the most admired CEOs of the year. In 2013 she was recognized as a top female entrepreneur by the San Francisco Business Times and received the FashInvest Innovation Award.
2015 MRC HONOREES Lloyd A. Rosenberg, AIA President & CEO DMR Architects
Lloyd Rosenberg, AIA is the driving force behind the phenomenal growth and success of DMR Architects. When Lloyd founded the firm in 1991, it was a three-person operation focused on designing exceptional schools and educational facilities. Over the years, he steadily added expert talent, enabling DMR to expand its capabilities to include architectural design for the public, residential, corporate, higher education and healthcare market sectors. Under his guidance, the firm now also offers sustainable design and cutting-edge redevelopment and professional planning services. With more than 50 years experience, Lloyd is a leading architect, professionally registered in numerous states and registered in Interior Design and Professional Planning in New Jersey. He has won many awards for his design work, including noteworthy recognitions such as Outstanding Concrete Design, School of the Year, Outstanding Middle School and Special Congressional Recognition. In addition, DMR has ranked in the top five architectural firms in the state for two consecutive years, and has also been honored as a Best Place to Work in New Jersey by NJBiz and several trade publications. As President and CEO of DMR, Lloyd has overseen more than 1,000 design and construction projects that range in size and scale from capital improvements to a $350 million corporate complex. Individually, Lloyd has a diverse and impressive history in the field of design. His extensive experience encompasses projects completed throughout the United States, as well as internationally. Lloyd’s international experience includes projects in Romania, Costa Rica, China and Nigeria, such as a 500 acre University in Kaduna, Nigeria valued at more than $500 million. Lloyd is active in numerous architectural and professional organizations, including the American Institute of Architects and New Jersey Society of Architects. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Educational Leadership Foundation of New Jersey. Lloyd received a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Oklahoma and completed Graduate Studies at Columbia University.
2015 MRC HONOREES Bruce J. Markowitz President & CEO Palisades Healthcare System, Inc.
Mr. Bruce J. Markowitz has been President and Chief Executive Officer of Palisades Healthcare System, Inc. since October 1993. Palisades Healthcare System, Inc. serves a population of 450,000 in Hudson and southern Bergen Counties, and it is comprised of Palisades Medical Center, a 202-bed acute care hospital, and The Harborage, a 247-bed nursing home and long-term rehabilitation center. Prior to joining Palisades Healthcare System, Inc., Mr. Markowitz was President and Chief Executive Officer of Park City Hospital in Bridgeport, Connecticut, from 1986 to 1993 after serving as the hospital’s Vice President of Operations and Assistant Vice President of Operations. Mr. Markowitz was also Assistant Administrator of Waterbury Hospital in Waterbury, Connecticut, and Administrative Resident at Cedars Medical Center in Miami, Florida. Mr. Markowitz earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Bridgeport, School of Law, a Master of Arts in Hospital Administration from The George Washington University, Washington, DC, and a Bachelor of Arts from Kean University, Union, New Jersey. Mr. Markowitz is a Fellow of the American College of Health Care Administrators and serves on various community and professional boards. He has received numerous community and professional awards from organizations and associations throughout our area.
2015 MRC HONOREES Thomas A. Bracken
President & CEO New Jersey Chamber of Commerce Veteran banker Thomas A. Bracken became the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce’s president and CEO in February of 2011, taking the reins of the state’s business advocacy organization as it celebrated its 100th year. The Skillman resident served as chairman of the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors from 2005 to 2007, and has been involved in the Chamber for more than 30 years. He spent four decades in the banking and financial services industry, serving previously as president of TriState Capital Bank’s New Jersey operation, based in Princeton. Bracken joined TriState Capital Bank in January 2008. Prior to that, he was president and CEO of Sun Bancorp, Inc. from 2001 to 2007. He also held executive positions with First Union Bank and CoreStates Financial Corporation. He is a former chairman of the Economic Development Corporation of Trenton and of the New Jersey Bankers Association. In 2014, Bracken was named chairman of ForwardNJ, a statewide coalition promoting investment in the state’s transportation infrastructure. Also in 2014, Bracken was inducted into the New Jersey Business Hall of Fame. Bracken, a Bucknell graduate, is currently the president of The Bedens Brook Club and the chairman of the New Jersey Alliance for Action Foundation. He is also a board member of Public Media NJ, the subsidiary of WNET that runs NJTV, the New Jersey Hall of Fame, South Jersey Industries, and Solix, Inc.
