Enjoy the Evening!
MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN Steven Blumenthal
MBAF CPAs LLC Chairman of the Board of Advisors Meadowlands Regional Chamber I want to welcome you all to the Meadowlands Regional Chamber’s 43rd Annual Legacy Awards Reception and thank you for attending. Tonight we are honoring four outstanding individuals; Thomas Eastwick, Robin Cuneo, Daniel Baer and Linda McFadden. I know each of them through their active involvement on the Board of Advisors and the leadership roles they play at the Chamber. They all bring a special talent to our Chamber and it is a pleasure to watch and work with them as they enhance our region. Please join with me in welcoming our honorees and acknowledging their outstanding contributions and efforts. Tonight also gives us the opportunity to recognize Jim Kirkos and the Staff of the Chamber; Judy Ross, Lisa Trenschel, Joseph Garavente, Lauren Erb and Nicole Vignola. As advocates for our region, whether in Trenton, the local media or Chamber Conferences/Summits they are always supporting our economy and our members; as Chairman and a Chamber member for many years I always find the entire team extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Please take the time to thank them for all of their good, hard work. Of course I want to thank Frank Recine and his Committee for overseeing and helping to coordinate this wonderful affair and also acknowledge his continued oversight as Chairman of the Programs Committee. This evening it is also appropriate that the Chamber Officers and various Standing Committee Chairpersons and Membership Committee Chairpersons be applauded. The Standing Committees provide guidance in leading the Chamber into the future and the Membership Committees reach out to our membership and provide them with support and engagement. Collectively, we all make the Meadowlands Regional Chamber a leader in the region and a very special organization, now and into the future. Steven Blumenthal

With 30 years of consulting and project management experience, Dan has worked on some of the largest and most complex transportation and land development initiatives throughout the country. Mr. Baer has been an active member of the Chamber for over 25 years, is a graduate of Pomona College and NYU for his Master’s and Doctoral studies. He and his family reside in Millburn Township where he is also the former Mayor.
2016 MRC HONOREES Linda McFadden President & CEO XCEL Federal Credit Union
On September 11th, of 2001, XCEL Federal Credit Union was headquartered in the World Trade Center in lower Manhattan. This was a day at the office like no other, ever. Despite the chaos, the destruction, the devastation and the death, our members still had to access their accounts. Linda had recognized that however she reacted would set the tone for the entire company. Immediately, she gathered all employees at our Jersey City, NJ branch to work out a plan. Imagine losing every document, every receipt, every record, every transaction, every single dollar bill, then, recognize that you also lost every desk, phone, every computer, and form of communication. And now, you need a plan to lead your team amid the mass confusion. But that is exactly what Linda did. XCEL actually came away from that tragedy much more agile as we enrolled in the COOP ATM and Shared Service Center networks which would allow our members to access their accounts at more convenient locations. Then we instituted remote access. We became early adaptors for all sorts of technologies. We have thousands of members who have never been to a branch, never spoken with an XCEL employee, and never considered leaving XCEL. This is all a testament to Linda McFadden. Linda’s leadership style is all about attitude, energy, honesty and guile. And Linda also walks the walks. She is currently the Chairman of the New Jersey Credit Union League Board of Directors. She is also on the finance committee of her church. For the last several years, she has been invited to sit on the Board of the Executive Women’s Golf Association (one of our SEGs). Whatever she gets involved with, she ends up in leadership role -- it’s just her nature. Linda’s only demand of her employees is that they do something. Be active in the community, give back-it’s the credit union way. XCEL actively supports the Toys for Tots Train, the American Red Cross, the American Heart Association, Super Storm Sandy relief efforts, many local organizations such as fire departments, first aid squads, PBAs, VFWs, high school athletics, youth organizations and so many more. Our employees support the League’s Reality Fairs throughout the state. We belong to eleven Chambers of Commerce. All of this is because Linda recognizes how lucky we all are, and how it is all of our responsibility to give back-to make a difference. So now maybe it’s time for us to recognize her!
Congratulations
