Our Teams We are privileged to work with some truly exceptional people, individuals who are highly skilled in their chosen sphere and who have honed their knowledge while being a team member of Jamieson & Carry. From those with 40+ years of experience through to those who have just joined us, there is a desire to increase knowledge and skills so that we can be of greater assistance to our colleagues and customers. Training days, on-site education, on-line courses (run by the National Association of Goldsmiths) and visits to suppliers all contribute to this overall, continual improvement. Fine Jewellery: We love design. We love fulfilling our customers’ dreams. To do this, we source jewellery from many workshops and ateliers from around the world. We also conceive, design and make our own collections here, on-site in Aberdeen, Inspired by Aberdeen. So sometimes we make it completely here; or perhaps purchase a particularly fine gemstone and ask one of the UK’s top workshops to mount it for us; or purchase the finished article which may or may not be branded. Our Beautiful Building We’ve been here since 1925 and are continually improving it inside and out. Comfortable, safe surroundings for all our visitors and staff ensure efficiency and elegance. The Staff Rest Area is a self-sufficient, pleasant area in which to prepare yourself for the coming day, enjoy lunch and to sort yourself out before you head home. Available to staff before and after work and during lunch-time. Our Luxury Gifts Room is linked to the Victoria Restaurant, creating a mutually beneficial flow of customers for the range of luxury gifts for the home and freshly-made food, served with a smile. The face of Jamieson & Carry Jewellery seen by most customers is 142 Union Street. First of all the windows, which are beautifully displayed with magnificent jewellery through the hard work and dedication of the team members. Beyond this browsing area is the shop itself, the front area split into jewellery counters and the very busy service department, while the rear section is ideally set out for specialist, private consultations. Partners’ offices and a gem lab complete this floor. Our Offices Below this is the engine-room of the business. Our offices handle all the administration of the distribution and receipt of stock and customers’ goods. Our Workshops Our extremely well-equipped workshops are staffed by our skilled jewellers, engravers and watch technicians. This facility allows us to take care of our customers to an unusually high standard.

Fine Diamonds, Swiss Watches, Gold Jewellery and other Precious Gifts are what Jamieson & Carry enjoy and know best, designed and made to a quality of which we can be genuinely pleased, at a value, price & choice that is competitive and acceptable to our customers, from premises that are safe, elegant and efficient. Generally, although not always, we are in a position to apply our knowledge, skills and to the various services that might be of help to our customers. (Such as the repair and renovation of watches and older items of jewellery.) All this to be carried out in a professional but happy atmosphere, driven by the desire to do our very best for each customer. Our Customer Service Promise Quality of Service: We will acknowledge you when you enter our showroom. (For telephone enquiries, by the third ring, for e-mail enquiries within 48 hours). The first available assistant will approach you, smile and welcome you with an attitude that shows we are keen to assist. We will listen carefully to your requirements, then use the knowledge and experience of the appropriate members of the Jamieson & Carry team to fulfill your request. Quality of work: We will discuss carefully with you the standard of work that is desired and that will be achieved, examples will be shown of previous work if this will be helpful. Completion dates: We will advise achievable times and dates, doing our utmost for this to coincide with your target time or date. If this becomes unachievable, we will inform you immediately, with regular updates on progress thereafter. Communication with you: by an agreed medium on agreed dates.

Enough about us, what about you? Why Join Us? Selling is a complex and exciting profession. At Jamieson & Carry it is not simply standing behind a counter waiting for things to happen. You can make things happen through your input, direction and knowledge. Display is hugely important and satisfying. Use your flair for design to entice your customers inside the shop. It also keeps you fit and healthy ...not just sitting at a desk all day. Have you got what it takes to fully enjoy this opportunity? This is a customer-facing job, so • exceptional communication skills, • a polite, friendly personality • and a smart appearance are all essential. As there is a fair bit of administration involved in record-keeping, good organisation, neat writing, keyboard skills, and a friendly, enthusiastic approach to your colleagues and customers will help you enjoy your job to the full. An excellent salary rewards this full-time position which is five days (38¾ hours) per week from Monday to Saturday. Self-motivation will be found to be easy as the more effort you put in, the more you will enjoy your job and the greater the rewards, both financial and moral. You will need to be fit and healthy as you will be on your feet for most of the day. And when you are looking after customers, you will be moving briskly to get more stock for them to see. Have you been to University? Use your learning skills to increase your knowledge of the wide variety of beautiful and interesting items we stock. This will increase your confidence and will benefit your customers. Have you worked with other high-end luxury products? Transfer your skills, learn about the beauty of gemstones and the joy of the internal world of watches. Enjoy the kudos of handling and knowing about the world’s most iconic watch brands. Trained at a five star hotel? You will certainly know the importance of how to look after your guests and the benefits of working as a team. Perhaps the more civilised hours of a shop will be of interest to you? None of the above experiences in your life so far? You will need to be able to carry on a sensible conversation with our customers so that you can fulfil their jewellery needs. So a desire to do this is essential.
