Patrick Henry students take Senior Walk

Patrick Henry High School (PHHS) recently held its Senior Walk 2023, which saw the seniors visiting South Anna Elementary to the cheers and congratulations of students and staff.

On Thursday, March 30, the soon-to-be graduates visited the elementary schools that they attended, including Beaverdam Elementary, Elmont Elementary, Henry Clay Elementary, John M. Gandy Elementary and South Anna Elementary. In the afternoon, the seniors walked around PHHS while underclassmen and staff cheered them on before walking to Liberty Middle School, where they took a victory lap around the bus loop to the sound of cheering Liberty students and staff.

Barbara Alice Sheets Marsland

MARSLAND, Mrs. Barbara

Alice Sheets, 81, of Mechanicsville, Va., departed this life april 4, 2023. Born in abingdon, Va., she was preceded in death by her parents, Carl B. and Willie lee sheets; sister, Myrna Broaddus; and brother, Carl F. sheets. she is survived by her husband of 42 years, robert “Bob” Marsland; daughter, dana (Byrd) Joseph (Michael), grandchildren, Zachary, logan and Caitlin; great-grandson, Greyson; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Barbara graduated from Virginia High school, Bristol, Va. in 1960. Barbara’s career in insurance at The Hartford, HrH and Willis, spanned several decades. she was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and wife. a memorial service will be held later. in lieu of flowers, donations in her honor can be made to The alzheimer’s a ssociation.

BARNES, Faye Etta , of Mechanicsville, passed away

Thursday, april 13, 2023. she was preceded in death by her husband, e. B. Barnes; and daughter, dawn White. Faye et ta is survived by her sons, adam Oliff (penny) and Jody Oliff (yi); five grandchildren, Justin, Christian, Jordan, Hampton and ayden; and eight great-grandchildren. she was a member of Fairmount Christian Church and the United daughters of the Confederacy. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m., with a memorial service beginning at 4 p.m. Thursday, april 20, 2023, at the Mechanicsville Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 leedavis rd interment will be private. in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fairmount Christian Church, 6502 Creighton rd., Mechanicsville, Va. 23111.
