we are kaitiaki of our moana and awa For generations, Ngāti Tūwharetoa have held and maintained mana whenua within the Taupō catchment. This intrinsic reciprocal relationship alongside our ownership, as described (in part) by the 2007 Deed and the Waikato Awa River Legislation, weave the whāriki by which the Tūwharetoa Māori Trust Board are stewards over Tāupo waters and Awa.

TE KŌTU K U
Video communications are often a popular choice with more people watching online video content than ever before. Since 2017 we have maintained a YouTube channel. Our most popular videos include COVID-19 messages from Ariki Tā Tumu te Heuheu. There are currently 137 subscribers to our YouTube channel which features 23 videos. EMAIL
We use Mailchimp as the platform for our email distribution and campaigns. Typically, an email campaign may have between 7,000 to 9,000 recipients in the distribution list. Email is often used to provide key updates on Trust Board business to members such as advance notice of a media statement, education grant information or an e-link to the annual report.
Te Kōtuku is the newsletter of the Tūwharetoa Māori Trust Board, the Tūwharetoa Settlement Trust and the Ngāti Tūwharetoa Fisheries Trust. Over the reporting period we published three issues. We aim to publish Te Kōtuku on a quarterly basis. To help maintain production costs we provide a printed copy to kaumātua aged 60 years+ who have a postal address. Te Kōtuku is also available on our website www.tuwharetoa.co.nz/publications SOCIAL MEDIA
FaceBook is our primary social media channel and enables us to share key information, announcements and updates in a quick and timely manner. There are currently more than 7,500 followers of our page. We also strive to support our fellow Tūwharetoa entities by resharing their key updates.

WEBSITE
Our website is a key communications resource which houses key information about us and our mahi. To help improve our handling and management of grants and member registrations we have increased the number of online applications which can now be made. For example, applications for all Education Grant categories can now be made online. We encourage people to apply online as it enables us to turn around processing more quickly than previously. Online applications also enable automated email messages to be generated instantly to help keep people informed about the progress or status of their application. TE R EO MĀO R I CO NTE NT
