t was last year when MAIt was last year when MAP started to plan restoring the Hilgendorf Memorial Clinic. The building was abandoned for more than 20 years, leaving shattered windows, ceilings covered with mold; leaking water pipes, and other parts badly needing repair. It was a depressing sight. But with unceasing requests of the people from the town of Jacmal, Aguinaldo, Ifugao to restore the clinic and continue the health care services for the community, the Restoration Team of Dr. Jun Garcia, Mrs. Alice Bañas, Mr. Romy Solis, Mrs. Jo Solis, Ptr. Ray Calupig, and Mrs. Tess Calupig- conducted the survey and started planning last year for the restoration project.
Multi-purpose Center in Sitio Singawan
Mr. Richard Hagerty, president of Medical Missions Philippines, honored Ms. Maureen Hilgendorf Mosher who joined her Creator just recently. He wrote, “She (Ms. Hilgendorf)
Built to Last cared passionately about the care and operation of the Hilgendorf Clinic in the mountains of Northern Luzon. The clinic, sadly ceased to operate some years back, but she continued to support the work of MAP while imploring the missionaries to restore this landmark facility… I never met Maureen, in fact we never spoke by phone and she never indicated that email was an option. However, each and every year she would send a very generous donation along with a lengthy handwritten note of memories and hope.” Hilgendorf Memorial Clinic in Aguinaldo, Ifugao
We thank the Lord for people like Ms. Hilgendorf who would go out of their way to be faithful in whatever calling the Lord has given them for His Kingdom purposes. In the case of Ms. Hilgendorf, it was the calling of “giving”. True enough, with these “givers”, another of our long-time prayers has finally been answered- a new multi-purpose center in Sitio Singawan, Brgy. Umiray, Dingalan, Aurora Province. The new and improved center is now more spacious so we can hold trainings and
Child-to-child education comfortably. We now also have a separate consultation room for more privacy and a second floor for the nurses’room. It was launched last February 20, 2016. The center was built to become a beacon of light es// Phase 2 training in Primary Health pecially for the Dumagat people who have no means to go to the government Care conducted for churches of Easthealth center. ern Samar.
