INTRODUCTION Alumni team works for students who complete Medha training program via Career Advancement Bootcamp(CAB) or Technological (skills) Advancement Bootcamp (TAB). We engage with the Alumni via usage of different platforms (Personal meetings, Telephonic Conversations, Social Media, Emails and WhatsApp Groups). The main purpose of interaction is to capture relevant information about our alumni regarding their career, achievements, and aspirations to support their career/personal goals over an extended period of time.

AIM AND SCOPE This survey is aimed at students who have completed 6,12,18,24,30 or 36-month timeline since their certification. We aim to track the progress of our alum over the course of 3 years and this survey helps us to update their informations, to know if they have changed jobs, got employed, went on to do higher studies etc. This also serves as a way to have information regarding their future plans (study/look for job/prepare for competitive exam)

METHODOLOGY Medha Alumni team has created a form on survey gizmo, an online survey platform. Alumni who have completed at least 6 months’ time period with Medha have to fill this form. This survey was completed using following approaches: 1. Online Surveygizmo forms were sent through an email campaign. 2. Regular follow ups and reminders are sent to get responses. 3. Alumni visiting Medha office were able to fill this form in office only. 4. If an Alum is not able to fill the form, the alumni team called the students and filled the questionnaire. 5. After the process of sending and receiving the survey, we collect the data, do the analysis and prepare the report.

RATE OF RESPONSES Survey forms were sent out to 392 Alumni, we received 183 responses out of which 158 forms were filled completely. 25 forms were partially filled so we are not using them for our data.

1. Those who are pursuing higher studies, 30% said that they will go for a part-time or fulltime job or/and after their exams. They want to be placed in their specialized fields.

2. Besides having the jobs 21% alumni wants to change their job due to following reasons: a. Not satisfying with the salary they are getting. b. Wants to switch to another fields/sector. 3. Out of 38 Alumni, 45% are in search of a source of income while they prepare for competitive exams.

According to the survey with 158 Alumni, 33 Alumni have stepped into the professional world out of which 74% said that this is their first Job. The internship provided by Medha enhanced their professional skills as a result which they secured a pre-placement offer from the same organization. Cracking Interview & communicating with confidence helped them to grab the job opportunity.

GRADUATE ALUMNI FROM ALL THE BATCHES i.e. 2012-15 The objective of this survey is to have an idea of our Alumni’s status over the period of time, How their career path is changing? What all challenges they are facing? How are they using their skills in the workplace and in their life & How & Where Medha or Medha training playing a role in choosing a career path, in resolving their issues & queries? We collected the data from all the batches of Medha i.e. from 2012-15 and did the analysis, the below table & chart shows only those Alumni status who are graduates. Analysis: 1. Alumni who enrolled in the batch of 2012-13 are mostly placed in some organization or pursuing higher studies. 2. Maximum Alumni from last 2 years(2013-16) are pursuing higher studies and they also looking for a job as well. 3. As the year passes, there is a decrease in percentage for preparing for the competitive exams and now they are more focused on getting a job & higher studies.

4. Alumni who are pursuing higher studies of last 2 years wants to do part time job or wants themselves to be placed in some organization after their completion of exams. That’s why the percentage is high for both higher studies and looking for a job from the same batch.

Q7. Do you need a Career Counselling? We have started weekly career counseling at Medha office. As per the requirement from our alumni end, we scheduled the career counseling. Below chart shows the interest for opting career counseling:

When we asked our alumni what they want to discuss in career counselling, we came across following points: 1. Maximum alumni have queries regarding the job opportunities in their field like most of the polytechnic students are looking for a job in Electronic & Mechanical field. 2. Most of the students were don’t have the clarity on what to do after graduation either go for higher study or grab the job opportunities they are getting which are not exactly from their field but at the same time, they also looking for the source of income. 3. Some students asked for “how to appear or do preparation for competitive exams”. 4. Some students want to know how to enhance communication skills & personality.

Challenges 1. We received only 47% responses due to the low usage & lack of knowledge on social networking by our Alumni. This was the main challenge we faced while collecting the responses. 2. This time, we have sent Alumni form via online survey i.e. Surveygizmo for which we require Email Ids. Hence, forms were sent out to only those Alumni who had their email ids. 3. Multiple rounds of follow-ups were required to be done to get responses.

4. We received 183 responses but only 158 forms were filled completely so ~13% forms could not be considered for the report due to them being partially/erroneously responded.

Summary 392 of our Alumni were sent the forms, out of which 183 total responses were received thus bringing the response rate to 47% which is 2% improvement on the last survey. After the analysis of data, we found that:  51% of the respondents are pursuing higher studies.  21% of the respondents are currently working at an average salary of Rs 13,500/We are happy to share that out of 33 alumni who are currently working, 24 are working for the first time. Through the survey, we received updated contact information for 68 respondents, illustrating the fact that not only is the survey essential for getting the feedback but it also helps us maintain our relationship with our Alumni. 35% of our Alumni expressed the need of Career Counselling, with the help of this data we are able to schedule career counseling by our SME’s and Industry experts.

Conclusion Through Medha Alumni survey we can access what are Alumni are currently doing, they can ask for any support, talk about their problems they are facing in their career life. Feedbacks are very important for us for the improvement of our program and we are happy that our Alumni are honestly giving their feedback. Through the regular survey and follow ups with Alumni we found that our Alumni are now getting more active towards responding. Many Alumni internships are converting to placements; it shows that our Alumni are performing well.
