Kidstart Summer Club!
Whether this is your first summer with us or if you are a returning family, we are inviting you to experience a richer summer experience through a kid-friendly programme with an emphasis on having fun!!! Different kids have different needs. Younger ones need more nurturing and attention whilst teenagers want independence and adventure. Our aim is to create the right balance for each age-group whilst never forgetting that Kidstart Summer Club takes place during the holidays. We look forward to having a safe and enjoyable summer together! Sincerely, Kidstart Administrators
Our Timetable Our summer club will run from Monday 16 July to Friday 14 September. The programme will take a break for Santa Maria Week between 13-17 August. Kidstart is from 9:00am to 1:00pm. Kidstart is being offered as a 3-day (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) or as a 5-day option. Additional club time is being offered from 7:15am and extending to 2:00pm at the Kidstart Summer Club in Lija. Extended hours till 5pm can also be offered by taking kids from Lija at 1pm to our Kidstart Childcare and Development Centre at St Venera (near Lidl Supermarket) by transport where they will be having further activities until pick-up.
Giving Children The Best • Multimedia Art • Dramatic Tales • NetStart - Computer activities • Fun With Food • Wordfun • Active Sports • Music • Pool • Animal Sense • Water Games • Martial Arts • Young Einstein • Fun with English
Kidstart Philosophy The underlying theme of our Summer Club is what we call our ‘caring philosophy’. All the activities which our children will participate in have this as their guiding principle and will fall under one of the following three categories: All activities were well organised even the party and the outing. I would surely recommend Kidstart to everyone! Keep it up!
• Caring for Others • Caring for Ourselves • Caring for our Environment
Caring for Others
Caring for Ourselves
This involves sharing, being aware of others’ feelings and diversities; valuing the contribution of all those we are in contact with. These aspects will be developed through collaborative and noncompetitive games, art, drama, personal and social development sessions, and the fostering of cooperation between the club’s administration, the instructors and the kids themselves.
Knowing who we are, being comfortable with ourselves and building self-esteem, as well as caring for our physical well-being is what this is all about. These values will be explored during sports and art activities, personal and social development sessions, nutrition and personal hygiene awareness activities.
Creativity We are all creative but some of us have difficulty expressing our ideas. We aim to allow our kids to discover and experiment with different, even if unconventional, ways of bringing out these ideas. Our dedicated instructors have drawn up a programme of activities which will give maximum opportunity to our kids to give way to Self Expression. The world of drama, poetry, dance, animated interactive story-telling and music encourages our kids to use these languages to express themselves, build self-confidence and self-esteem. Furthermore, our kids will be exposed to the various types of music and instruments. They will be encouraged to appreciate the diversity in the world around us.
2
Caring for Our Environment We are already aware of the implications of being careless in this regard. Recycling will be a basic principle at Kidstart Summer Club. Our kids will actually make some of the equipment which will be used for games and music, using everyday items we would normally discard. They will explore the natural world and animals through a hands-on approach.
My son really enjoyed his 8 weeks at school... and came home singing!

Our son loved it!
Kidstart Pre-Teens (8-11 Years) Born in 2001-2004
Pre-teens will be grouped according to age and follow a timetable of 3 activities per day. They will be accompanied by the Instructor leading each particular activity.
Word Fun Language is a very important step in a child’s development. Unfortunately a too-strong emphasis on a content-based curriculum means that more often than not our children do not get to enjoy learning words and languages because they consider them a “subject” that must be learnt at school. The aim of this programme is to allow the children to have fun learning new words and using them through various games and activities. We might look at how a word is translated into various languages, how words in Maltese and English sound “funny”, how words can be used in a musical and fun way and lots more! This activity is being offered to Pre-Teens attending the 5-day programme
Weekly activities include: Multimedia Art • Singing • Dancing Sessions • Animal Sense • Active Zone • NetStart: • Computer activities Cooking: Fun with Food • Water Games in Pool • Fun with English •

Kids come to Kidstart to have fun... and they deserve it After working hard at school for nine months they need to relax, doing fun activities with their friends in a safe and welcoming environment, supported by instructors who are qualified and dedicated. The Fun with English programme is designed to encourage English interaction in a playful manner and aims at increasing familiarity with spoken English in young children, increasing their confidence in using the language. Run by enthusiastic tutors, sessions include storytelling, vocabulary games, quizzes, puppet and drama games. Children enjoy listening to their tutors as well as multimedia materials and also get the opportunity to develop a voice of their own in English. This exciting programme will be offered to all kids from 4 to 11 years.

We believe that animals are our friends and we have a duty to respect and care for them because they are vulnerable creatures. At Kidstart, we foster this love and respect through exposure. Every Group has a pet which the kids take care of and feed with the help of their Carers or Instructors. This programme is being sponsored by Borg Cardona Co Ltd, importers of Royal Canin.
The carers were young and really sweet and patient with the kids.
Here at Kidstart we believe that as co-inhabitants of this earth, kids from an early age should learn to respect and love animals and to care for them according to their needs. We will discuss how our habits effect the lives of animals around the world. We will also look at different pets and discuss the pros and cons of owning them and the appropriate way of caring for them. We will also be inviting a number of people to come along with their unusual pets, which the kids will have the opportunity to meet up close. This activity is being offered to Pre-Teens attending the 5-day programme
Parents as Partners At Kidstart we believe that we must be partners with parents and guardians in providing a rich learning experience for kids. To emphasise this belief we organise various activities in which parents are invited to participate alone or with kids: • Open Day will be held on Saturday 14 July. Parents and kids are invited to tour the premises and meet the Administration, Carers and Instructors.
• Evening talks for parents on topical issues may be organised and delivered by expert speakers. • Another Parents’ Activity Morning will be held towards the end of the 8-week programme. Parents will be invited to come along and see what their kids have been up to at Kidstart. • Regular newsletter issues will be sent to communicate with you on news and other activities happening at our summer club.
Action Sport We have designed our sports activities in conjunction with qualified sports educators to provide our kids with an enjoyable and safe sports experience. The emphasis is: • not competing but cooperating • on being with friends and making new ones • on learning new skills • on becoming healthier through games
This way of thinking includes: • work and play within environments which reinforce team spirit • developing a positive self-image & self-confidence • acquiring social skills through collaboration with other children and adults • experiencing and learning how to manage both success and setbacks • living within healthy, competitive situations.

Choosing Us Kidstart adopts a zero-tolerance to bullying and this programme has proved to be very effective in reducing the incidence of bullying behaviour. The aims are: • to help kids develop positive social skills by exploring their rights and responsibilities; • to foster a supportive group environment in which differences are accepted and valued and where the kids, as individuals and as part of a group, can flourish in a diverse community; • to promote self-assertion and communication in a non-violent manner which promotes dialogue and peaceful conflict-solving. The approach is interactive, with fun activities that help the kids understand and adopt these principles. All Kidstart Staff are especially trained to promote Choosing Us aspects throughout all activities.
