The growing Filipino population in Rotorua work in various industries including health service, power generation, finance and banking, management, tourism and others. Rotorua is a city on the southern shores of the lake of the same name, in the Bay of Plenty area of the North Island of New Zealand. The city is the seat of the Rotorua District, a territorial authority encompassing the city and several other nearby towns. Rotorua city has an estimated permanent population of 56,100. The city, in the heart of the North Island, is a major destination for both domestic and international tourists; the tourism industry is by far the largest industry in the district. The city is known for its geothermal activity. AyalaLand aims to persuade Filipinos in New Zealand to invest in the Philippines, especially in the housing and condominium projects of AyalaLand in key cities in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. On June 8, during the 22nd World Economic Forum on East Asia held in Myanmar, President Benigno Aquino III told businessmen that the Philippines was ripe for investments. “Today, all the factors are in place: political stability, low inflation and low borrowing rates, opportunities for growth in almost all sectors, a government committed to integrity and empowerment, and a people known the world over for their industry, loyalty, and creativity,” Aquino said during a luncheon hosted by Ayala Corp.
