The volcanic mountain of Mount Tauhara lies six kilometres to the east. Taupo has a population of 22,800 (June 2012 estimate). On 15 June, the AyalaLand sales team made a presentation during the Philippine Independence Day celebration in Rotorua where nearly 150 people were in attendance. Mel B Libre, to mark the event, told the audience about the bright prospect in investing in the Philippines, qouting remarks of President Aquino during the World Economic Forum in Myanmar. He said, “Invest in the Philippines, for the love of freedom, for the love of country.” A number of attendees made inquiries on the AyalaLand projects, and Marjorie Luxford, president of the Filipino Club, arranged appointments of prospective clients.
