Updates on Teachers in Sandals Fellowship

11 October 2013

POWERFUL GRADUATION SPEECHES The audience hang on to their every word, as Sis Isabella and Bro Anthony delivered their respective graduation speeches to becoming Certified Student Teachers in Teachers in Sandals Fellowship. Bro Trevor cst, the evening’s evaluator, was impressed with the speeches, so were the others present, with the former giving near perfect ratings and the latter confirming their satisfaction with warm applauses. Sis Isabella chose St Paul as subject of Basic Speech No. 3 “My Favourite Saint”. She described Paul as a persecutor who became a courageous defender of the Christian faith. According to Sis Isabella, Paul suffered so much for his belief including assassination attempts and imprisonments; yet he never gave up on Christ. She said that St Paul should serve as our model when we feel inadequate in speaking about our belief. Bro Anthony, for his part, delivered a speech on his favourite Bible quotation taken from Matthew 16:18, “And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” The scholarly presentation dealt on among others the meaning of “diabolic” referencing on the devil’s presence in the world. He also emphasised the concept of Christian giving and its positive impact in human relationships and in strengthening one’s faith. In Brieflynes, Sis Cissy talked about Catholic confession, Bro Daniel on “Worldliness” and Bro Trevor on “Marriage between Man and Woman”. The Trevor-Isabella team won the BQQ (7/10). Other than evaluating, Bro Trevor shared some of his poems that he read aloud to an appreciative audience. As usual, Bro Sam prepared food after the activity, this time around a vegan recipe. The next Teaching Night will be held on Thursday 24 October 2013 at 6:00 pm in Newman Hall. The following have confirmed to deliver speeches: Bro Sam (BS2), Bro Daniel (BS2); and Bro Trevor (AS4).

A Round of Golf

Three men went out to play a round of golf, Moses, Jesus and an old man. Moses tee'd off first, and the ball landed in the water. He parted the water, and hit the ball in for a birdie. Jesus tee'd off next, and the ball landed in the water. He then walked on the water, and hit the ball in for a birdie. Lastly the old man tee'd off, but before the ball could hit the water, a fish jumped out and caught the ball in its mouth. Then an eagle swooped down and caught the fish. Lightening then struck near the eagle, frightening it, and it dropped the fish. When the fish hit the ground, it dropped the ball in for a perfect hole in one. Jesus and Moses turn to the old man, and Jesus said, "Dad, if you don't quit playing like that, we're not going to bring you anymore."
