Updates on Teachers in Sandals Fellowship
16 August 2013
FROM TWO TO ELEVEN Only two of the eight assigned participants turned up for their roles during Teaching Night on 15 August 2013, yet it was one of the most well attended gatherings for the 2nd semester of 2013. Busyness kept regular members away, yet the Holy Spirit sent visitors and past teachers to fill the vacant seats and blest the activity with welldelivered speeches, a competitive BQQ (Bible Quotient Quiz) and a hearty meal. Bro Daniel delivered his first speech project, “I Am” defining himself as an individual who gets people asking about his ethnicity, and rightly so, for he is a mixture of different races (Chinese, Fijian and Indian). He came to New Zealand at the age of seven, saying that his new home was far different from where he came from. IT professional Bro Daniel said that he returned to study in the university to rediscover his faith. Bro Trevor cst delivered his fourth advanced speech project focusing on a creative approach to delivering a speech. The choice of topic, Virgin Mary, was timely as on 15 August, the Church celebrated the Assumption of Mary. Using eleven paintings that he created, he expounded on the life of Mary as pictured on the canvasses. Bro Denis jt was so impressed with the speech that he gave a rating of 10 out of 10 to Bro Trevor. The following contributed to the programme: Bro Mel (Smilines); Bro Jason cst (Brieflynes); and Bro Nathaniel cst (BQQ). In the quiz, the team of Denis-Joe-Valentina secured a perfect score of 15, besting two other teams. Visiting Bro Krishna agreed to be the programme minister, and as usual, carried the proceedings with ease. Prepared for the participants after the programme were roasted chicken, vege salad, bread and drinks. You’re the best Bro Sam! Teachers in Sandals Fellowship would like to thank the following visitors for attending: Mary Moeono-Kolio, Ulu Afaese and Valentina Sabini.
Smilines\ Signs of Time “I never wanted to believe that my Dad was stealing from his job as a road worker. But when I got home, all the signs were there.”
