Updates on Teachers in Sandals Fellowship

23 July 2013

2ND SEM FIRST TEACHING NIGHT ON 1 AUGUST Teachers in Sandals Fellowship (TSF) begin the second semester of 2013 with Teaching Night on Thursday 1 August 2013 at 6pm in the newly painted meeting room of Newman Hall. During the first semester, Fr Bernie Thomas ofm took over from Fr Sam Pulanco as chaplain priest of the Auckland Catholic Tertiary Chaplaincy. Also, the ACTC team underwent a change in personnel with new lay chaplains appointed namely Joseph Xulue, Dominic Malgeri and Sam Roughton (photo at right). The latter was assigned as coordinator to TSF vice Bro Denis Tutaka, jt. The first semester of 2013 produced the following accomplishments: Teaching Nights Conducted, seven (7); Speeches Delivered, eighteen (18); Certified Student Teacher, one (1); and Most Resourceful Member, Sis Laura who completed the three basic speeches to qualify as Certified Student Teacher and for recruiting three new members to TSF. The average number of participants in Teaching Night was ten (10). On 29 March, TSF participated in the Good Friday Stations of Cross Procession initiated by the ACTC. According to Bro Sam, the re-painting of the meeting room is just part of the renovation thought of by the team to make the chaplaincy more attractive to students. He is inviting students to drop by Newman Hall to learn more about its various programs including TSF. For his part, Bro Mel, TSF Lead Servant, calls on students to make TSF part of their experience in the university. “It’s more than two years now since we established TSF and I’ve seen the development of members in their public speaking and social skills, but more importantly, I’m inspired by their commitment to their Christian faith. It’s only an hour or so every other week, to talk about your faith, to listen to others and to meet new friends.” Tertiary students are cordially invited to join the activity on 1 August. See you.

Smilines Please Lord A little girl, dressed in her Sunday best, was running as fast as she could, trying not to be late for Bible class. As she ran she prayed, "Dear Lord, please don't let me be late! Dear Lord, please don't let me be late!" As she was running and praying, she tripped on a curb and fell, getting her clothes dirty and tearing her dress. She got up, brushed herself off, and started running again. As she ran she once again began to pray, "Dear Lord, please don't let me be late... But please don't shove me either!"

TEACHING NIGHT: GOOD NEWS. GOOD TIME. GOOD COMPANY.
