BRO TREVOR IS JUNIOR TEACHER One of the most active and most consistent members of Teachers in Sandals in 2013, Bro Trevor delivered his final Advance Speech on 24 October 2013 during the Teaching Night in Newman Hall. Speaking on “The Real Meaning of Christmas”, Bro Trevor cited Biblical passages on the coming of the Saviour Child. He described how Jesus was born of Mary in a manger unattended by a midwife or a health worker, but by Joseph. Bro Trevor made mention of other elements present during first Christmas: animals, shepherds, the Three Wise Men and their gifts. He also said that the celebration in December is a result of tradition that dates back to 336 AD during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine and officially declared by Pope Julius I to be celebrated on the 25th December. The new Junior Teacher said that the main focus of Christmas is Christ who came amongst men to give them hope, to assure them salvation. We congratulate Bro Trevor jt as he joins earlier Junior Teachers namely Bro Denis jt and Bro Andrew jt. The program was confidently hosted by Sis Isabella with the following contributors: Bro Jason cst, Smilines; Bro Sam, Brieflynes; and Bro Mel, evaluation. The participants spent longer in the Business Time to discuss plans to get more involvement among students and create a more interesting program. Bro Sam prepared delicious pasta for the occasion. Recognition Night It was agreed by the group that Recognition Night will be held on 18 November 2013, 7 pm with the venue to be announced later. The activity will formally install titles to those who completed the speech projects either as Certified Student Teacher or Junior Teacher. Bro Sam, chaplain coordinator for TSF, promised to make the evening memorable – with extra special food, with the presence of Fr Bernie; and with the reunion of past chaplains and members.
