VICTOR Our Prayer Journey for All Blacks Rugby World Cup 2011 Victory

ROSARY LINKS TAWAGAWIT CHAPTERS Since it kicked off on July 31, 2011 at the Blessed John Paul II Mass Centre, the prayer journey for All Blacks Rugby World 2011 Victory has continued not just among churchgoers in the Albany mass centre, but among members of TawagAwit, a Catholic Ministry spreading God’s Word through music and other acts of love. The following families from three chapters (BJPII Mass Centre, Our Lady of Lourdes and St Mary’s) have recited the prayer and rosary in their respective homes: Magtibay, De la Cruz, Jose, Angeles, Halili, Cutten, Esclamado, Hebia, Menchavez, Libre, Guido, Amiscua, Mandawe, Bas, Matiga and Adviento. The Nacario and the Bonilla families will complete the third week on 19-20 August for the All Blacks test match against the South African team in Port Elizabeth. Coach Henry said the All Blacks had had a great build-up at Port Elizabeth and the team felt refreshed and raring to go. "There is

excitement across the board in the squad and every player will be looking to put in a big performance this weekend," he said. On Aug 28, Bro Peter Gayaman (read story next page) will start the prayer journey among the members of St Thomas More, while St Patrick’s Taupo has been assigned at the start of the final week, Sept 4 towards the opening game between New Zealand against Tonga on Sept 9. Bro Mel B Libre sent out notices to such groups as the Katilingbang Bisaya sa New Zealand (KBNZ) and Auckland Pinoy New Zealand Yahoo Group to join the prayer journey “as a way of participating in one of the most important sporting event of our adopted country, New Zealand.”

VICTOR Bro Peter Gayaman and the Ellis Cup While wandering around Viaduct, Auckland after a having a sumptuous meal at a Spanish restaurant, servant leader Peter Gayaman with his wife and 7-month-old baby Petrysse, were distracted by a band playing surrounded by good scores of people. “Most be some freebies,” he said to himself. Getting closer they realised that it was the Rugby World Cup 2011 Roadshow. Curious, Bro Peter joined the queue heading inside a makeshift structure. He soon realized that the line would end up in an elevated stage, where a large golden Cup was displayed. It was well-secured and no one was allowed to touch it. The glittering trophy - Webb Ellis Cup - is the holy grail of rugby, and only once was this raised by New Zealand in 1987. “I took my turn to have a photo as there was a professional photographer”, says Bro Peter, noticing the frenzy all around, with some individuals with painted faces, others wearing AB t-shirts and many in casual attires. “I may not be a rugby fan, but at that moment I felt the excitement,” he said, “I am looking forward to the games which will officially kick-off on 9 September 2011. And of course, I am rooting for All Blacks because I believe they have the talents to emerge victorious. Go Kiwis, go All Blacks!!!” Like Bro Peter, the rest of TawagAwit pray for the All Blacks to raise once more the Webb Ellis Cup at the conclusion of RWC 2011.

VICTOR PRAYER FOR THE ALL BLACKS TO WIN THE RUGBY WORLD CUP 2011

We praise You Lord God; You are Our Almighty Father in heaven and on earth. You are our joy, our victory, we adore and honor You. As New Zealand hosts the Rugby World Cup 2011, we ask You to send your Holy Angels to guard the players, the spectators and supporters from harm and violence; and secure the venues of all the games. Send the Holy Spirit to guide and strengthen the All Blacks, who have been denied the World Cup since winning this in 1987. Fill the coaches with your wisdom. Fill the players with your strength. Fill their hearts with your overwhelming power. Make your presence felt in every game as You lead them to victory. We offer this Prayer for the All Blacks, that as they have faith in themselves, they have faith in You – the Final Arbiter. We thank You Lord for hearing our prayer and plea. In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

VICTOR How to Pray the Rosary The purpose of the Rosary is to help keep in memory certain principal events or mysteries in the history of our salvation, and to thank and praise God for them. There are twenty mysteries reflected upon in the Rosary, and these are divided into the five JOYFUL MYSTERIES, the five LUMINOUS MYSTERIES, the five SORROWFUL MYSTERIES, and the five GLORIOUS MYSTERIES. 1 Make the Sign of the Cross and say the "Apostles' Creed." 2 Say the "Our Father." 3 Say three "Hail Marys." 4 Say the "Glory be to the Father." 5 Announce the First Mystery; then say the "Our Father." 6 Say ten "Hail Marys," while meditating on the Mystery. 7 Say the "Glory be to the Father." 8 Announce the Second Mystery; then say the "Our Father." Repeat 6 and 7 and continue with Third, Fourth and Fifth Mysteries in the same manner. 9 Those who pray the Rosary regularly would do well to be enrolled in the Confraternity to gain extra spiritual benefits for each Rosary they pray.

VICTOR Prayers of the Holy Rosary SIGN OF THE CROSS In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen. APOSTLES' CREED I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell; the third day He arose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting. Amen. OUR FATHER Our father, who art in heaven; hallowed by Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. Amen. HAIL MARY Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. GLORY BE TO THE FATHER Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

VICTOR HAIL, HOLY QUEEN Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy! our life, our sweetness and our hope! To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary! V. Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God. R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Let us pray. O GOD, whose only begotten Son, by His life, death, and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life, grant, we beseech Thee, that meditating upon these mysteries of the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise, through the same Christ Our Lord. Amen. After each decade you can say the following prayer requested by the Blessed Virgin Mary at Fatima: "O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to Heaven, especially those who have most need of your mercy."
