It is imperative that we get the world moving again – once it is safe to do so. We are monitoring the introduction of travel restrictions around the world. Our latest data shows 100% of all destinations have restrictions in place. Depending on when and where travel restrictions are lifted, international tourist numbers could fall between 60 and 80% this year. Without a strong and vital tourism sector, many millions of jobs and small businesses are at risk.
Global NEWS
As the ultimate person-to-person sector, and one that promotes solidarity and friendship, tourism will play a key role in spreading trust more widely, with benefits traveling far beyond tourism itself. Only this way can we drive our economies back towards growth and start rebuilding our societies.

Visible cleanliness cues will be vital to rebuilding trust in the hospitality sector as hotels reopen.
“We are getting into a war about cleanliness, and this is a good thing – cleanliness is going to be extremely important.”
“Customers believe in us; in the institutional cleaning processes we have. But those visible cues will be key – highlighting social distancing, having cleaning staff visible more often in public areas – customers will want to see more of this.”

How to survive and thrive despite disruption | Organizational Adaptability
12-May-2020, www.hrexecutive.com read more
COVID-19 caused a seismic shift in every corner of life, including how employees work. Within days, companies were forced to shift to remote work and many completely shook up their business models to adhere to stay-at-home restrictions and other regulations.
Adaptability, including resilience and flexibility, is key.
The Importance of Organizational Adaptiveness Today
In the face of these radical changes, companies will need to focus on employees’ AQ (adaptability quotient), which focuses on resilience and flexibility, to ensure they’re ready and able to evolve no matter the conditions.
HR NEWS
Organizational adaptiveness is a company’s ability to embrace change rather than fear or avoid it. Adaptive organizations iterate to stay relevant— constantly evaluating what’s working, what’s not and then reacting accordingly.

How do you begin remembering a dear colleague, who at some point touched our lives. Joe Fenech was a person of high integrity, with an unstoppable high level of commitment and stamina, dedication and had the Riviera Hotel very close to his heart. A hotelier for almost his entire career, he was at the helm of the hotel for a long number of years, since the beginning of the 2000’s. He gave his unconditional trust and the opportunity to set-up each department in Riviera Hotel. His meticulous and methodical approach to every task, has made an impact to department heads. He persevered to any obstacle that came his way and maintained composure and approached the challenges in a positive way. As one Meeting Point family, we pay tribute to Joe. We will miss you.

motivated by working in a team and leading one. Working in a team has taught me so much more. It enlightened me and opened up my mind to a whole new world. The confluence of ideas, thoughts, and opinions encouraged me to know and learn from my colleagues. There was a time when I believed that I could do everything on my own. With time I realized the extent of achievement possible with teamwork. It took me some time getting used to leading a team of varied individuals. Gradually, I realized that it was more about dealing with their personalities and less about their skills sets. It was a challenge which I took up and gained valuable insights related to team building and motivation.

FTIAS – NEST
about the program NEST is FTIAS’ Learning Management System (LMS). Through this e-learning portal FTIAS employees can access custom designed courses.
why nest Learning is an important core value that we share at FTIAS. Having courses available online will definitely give an advantage to our trainees in terms of availability and accessibility. All training can be centralized, increasing training administration efficiency for all the systems, procedures and personal skills topics being addressed in our training plan. The NEST is an effective platform to increase trainees engagement, through usage of technology, at the trainee’s pace.
features Dashboard usage
Once a user logs in, s/he is directed to the main dashboard. All assigned courses are available for access and courses can be started straight away.
Courses
Considering that FTIAS has several technical core functions, many interactive courses are designed and built in-house. Finished courses are uploaded in NEST, tests and quizzes are added to specific courses before completion. Certification is available upon course completion.
Gamification
Engagement is very important in training. We believe it helps with the absorption of knowledge, leading to better performance. This instils a spirit of friendly competition through points, badges and levels system to boost motivation and completion levels.
Accessibility and Interface
NEST can be accessed from any work station or device via available browsers. This gives more flexibility to the users.
Learning paths
Courses can be assigned to all users, but specific courses can only be accessed when other linked courses are completed. This gives more flexibility when planning training whilst giving the trainee a forecast of the training journey ahead.
Reports
NEST offers several ready-made reports and also custom reports that can be tailored according to the need. Such reports are automatically sent to section managers for monitoring purposes.
Integrations
For future projects, FTIAS is planning to integrate online webinars through NEST directly. This will enable the trainer to blend in Training Led Sessions with other online courses, allowing full flexibility through a centralized source of data

The Future of Training
Reskilling and Upskilling

Adapting employees’ skills and roles to the postpandemic ways of working will be crucial to building operating-model resilience. To meet this challenge, companies should craft a talent strategy that develops employees’ critical digital and cognitive capabilities, their social and emotional skills, and their adaptability and resilience.

Upskilling is not the same as reskilling, a term associated with short-term efforts undertaken for specific
groups. An upskilling effort, by contrast, is a comprehensive initiative to convert applicable knowledge into productive results — not just to have people meet classroom requirements, but to have them move into new jobs and excel at them. It involves identifying the skills that will be most valuable in the future, the businesses that will need them, the people who need work and could plausibly gain those skills, and the training and technology-enabled learning that could help them — and then putting all these elements together.
