Megan Lloyd Elevator Talk and Andre Frattino Hello, my name is Megan Lloyd. I’m interested in Interior Design, and my dream is to work in an upper tier company designing restaurants, hotels, and other works along those lines.

Right now, I am a student at the Savannah College of Art and Design, and my Junior and Senior years I plan on taking intern-ships so I may get a feel for the work and be better prepared when I graduate. I’ve already had some experience with Interior Design back when I was in Vo-tech. I helped to build a house in a construction crew and worked side by side with the head-foremen to do the interior designing of the building. My love of the work grew over those two years, and it is my dream to continue this in a company such as yours.

Andre Frattino brought up several important points about how to talk and approach future employers. As it stands we are no longer high school students, we are young adults just a few short years from entering our future careers. As such, it is time we stop thinking of ourselves as children, and start putting ourselves into the shoes of our future selves. One of these ways is to start learning to act confident. Although we may not always be confident when we talk to a future employer, it is good to at least act confident, upbeat, and positive. These employers are going to have to share space with us for 8 or more hours a day. They do not want to hire someone they think is going to be a drag to spend that much time with. Ways to act confident are holding shoulders high, not slouching, being upbeat and positive, showing knowledge of the field, and so on. Another point he brought up is learning to talk comfortably. It is essential that by the time we graduate that we can talk to future employment as easily as we do friends, family, or other students and teachers. I personally need to work on this, and by reciting and writing speeches in class I have worked on this trait. Now all I need to do is perfect it.
