Music and food are two important aspects of the

Brazilian

culture so the restaurant space really became the focal point of my building. It was important for me to make this space feel exciting and warm and to bring an element of nature into the space. I chose a color scheme and materials that created a warm, natural feel with oranges, browns and bronze. The fabrics have a circle motif in scales that relate but don’t compete with the custom pattern elements throughout. The green wall bring actual nature into the space and it is experience by people walking up the ramp to the raised dining platform. The flooring materials are cork and carpets to absorb sound and not distract from the performances.

Main Entrance Upon entering the Brazilian Institute the visitor would be removed from Cambridge and immediately immersed in a streetscape

inspired by the colonial architecture of Minas Gerais. There is a display cabinet for precious stones buit into the side of one of the streetscape “buildings as an introduction to the stones and minerals and folk art exhibit. The floor is a composite concrete mixture made to look like cobblestone and the curved green wall behind the reception desk adds to the feeling of being outdoors. Progmrams used: Revit Photoshop CAD

• Minas Gerais is known as the Portuguese crown so there will be a mineral exhibit (like the one in the Museum of Mines and Metals in the Centro de Arte Popular complex) • shown above is Emerald & Topaz, just two of the many minerals abundant in the area • Mineral Inventory: A rich collection of minerals is presented in interactive drawers. Opening them, the visitor finds minerals contained, in addition to video

Brand statement:

Origami involves starting with a flat square piece of paper that can be transformed into an infinite number of shapes. It represents BAM’s (the Boston Animation Guild and Museum) infinite source of creative possibilities as well as the company’s organization, precision and deliberate decision making as animators. The restaurant is the space where the concept of origami came to life in a custom booth design, stained glass ceiling and ceiling treatment. Programs used: CAD Photoshop

In my exploration of the process of making a mocassin, I found four qualities important: 1. the bottom of the shoe has holes at the beginning of the process 2. the 133 rubber balls are inserted into the bottom of the shoe 3. the shoe is stitched together, but remains unpainted 4. the shoe is then painted, to be shiny in it’s final form

Custom Flooring

Completed 2013

Leslie Fine Interiors

In a large condo renovation in the South End, I had the opportunity to do a custom rug design for a living room. After failed attempts at finding the perfect rug for the already selected furnishings and fabrics for the space, I designed a rug that fits around the layout of the furniture, incorporates the color scheme of the space and speaks to the clients’ taste in modern art. The pattern seems somewhat random but the lines are intentionally positioned along the furniture and are varying thicknesses to increase interest. Programs used: CAD, Photoshop

Custom Flooring

Completed 2013

Leslie Fine Interiors

In a 6,000 square foot condo in the Mandarin Residences in the Back Bay, I designed a custom flooring pattern for the foyer. The clients asked for a high-end, unique

pattern

that was similar to the flooring found in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel next door. After materials were chosen, I created several iterations of a pattern that was appropriate in scale to the space and made a statement as the main entrance to the unit. The installation required complicated cutting of each material and therefore, a more detailed plan in combination with rendering to be given to the sub-contractor.

Millwork

Completed 2013

Leslie Fine Interiors

This millwork is located in a master bedroom. The room has large, twelve foot high windows on one wall and the client needed a space for the TV and additional storage without blocking or distracting from the view. The specific storage needs included: a dresser, open shelving for displaying books, closed storage, storage for AV equipment and a safe. Based on these specific storage needs we designed a piece of furniture that presented an elegant solution. Finish: espresso stained mahogany fabric wrapped door fronts satin nickel hardware Programs used: CAD SketchUp

Millwork

Completed 2013

Leslie Fine Interiors

We worked in coordination with Poggenpohl Kitchens to design millwork for specific feature walls in the kitchen. It transformed into a design that continued to a custom bar and dining room cabinet on the opposite wall of the kitchen. The design and installation required open communication and collaboration between our office, the kitchen cabinet manufacturer and the millwork company. I was involved in every step of the process. Residential Addition

In progess 2014

Leslie Fine Interiors

A current project Nantucket is an addition to a house that includes expanding the kitchen, adding a new master suite and guest suite. We were brought on after the client selected an architect so the process has involved

redlining a set of construction drawings to revise the architects vision to be more aligned with the clients overall vision. Slight changes to the windows, ceiling beams and kitchen have been made and the project is now in construction.

Web Design

We worked with a web designer to come up with a layout for the company website. I did several iterations in Photoshop until we settled on a layout for each page. In addition, I started a company blog focused on sustainable materials called Decapod.

blog design- eDesign Once we started getting followers on our blog, I created an eDesign page, an online design service. We developed a scope we felt was possible over the internet, developed prices and developed logos and layouts to incorporate as a signature look for each paper we sent to a client. eDesign is potentially a way to get more business and a possible form of advertisement. The services to be provided to clients: -single room design services -an initial survey to understand the clients needs -inpiration board of images -furniture and fixture selection with a collage board and a step by step buying guide -plan, elevations and rendering when neededed
