Question 3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why? Whilst there is a large number of media institutions that distribute films, I believe that a small number of institutions would opt to distribute our thriller. This is because our target audience and our thriller opening only appeals to the young teen and adult demographic in the UK and so it would need to be accessible for teen viewers. I believe the small numbers of intuitions which may opt to distribute our thriller are the institutions which have already done so with other pre-existing products. An ideal institution to distribute our thriller is Studio Canal an independent film institution which produced a recent film called In Fear. This British made thriller/horror film is similar to our media product following a newly established couple who decides to spend time together only to be trapped in the countryside with someone, or something else. This film, like our media product has few characters around it however it centers on the couples relationship and calls it to question when circumstances become supernaturally extreme. Studio Canal would be a good choice as they’re a well established distribution company with the means to our thriller film. Another institution which may distribute our thriller is another British distribution company is Film4 Productions, a well distinguished company with multiple successful films which were financially backed by Film4. One example of their successful film would be Attack the Block. This thriller/comedy details a extra-terrestrial invasion in South London forcing a young street gang to rally together and fight off the invaders. This urban style movie is aimed to the teenager demographic like our film and although it was financially unsuccessful it was critically hailed by multiple reviewers. \ The BBC Films is another media distribution company which may take on our film. They have the reputation to distribute it without accessibility problems allowing the film to be presented through their networks on TV; this apart from the big screens is another where young adults and teenagers view films. One example of films which this company has produced is the British Horror film, the awakening.
