Please accept this calendar as a small token of our appreciation for everything you do for Benedictine College. You deserve a gift! Consider all you have done: • You gave us the means to share with prospective students the community life our campus is famous for, and that drew another record-setting class. This year our enrollment is more than 1,600 students. This fall we broke ground on our ninth new residence hall since the year 2000. • You supported our Catholic, Benedictine mission, and you can be proud of all of the great strides we have made. Our “Catholic Identity at Benedictine College” booklet, which you can see at our website, has been called a “model for Catholic colleges” nationwide in reporting our thriving faith life. • Your investment in academic excellence at Benedictine College is paying off. The respected intellectual journal First Things recognized us as one of the top 20 colleges in the United States and U.S. News and World Report raised our ranking by 25 places. We think this calendar is a great thank-you gift, because it celebrates the life on campus that you made possible. People often ask me the latest news to share about Benedictine College’s success. Find key events right here in the calendar: • We unveiled an eight-foot statue of St. Benedict in the heart of campus, in front of the Haverty Center. This statue now welcomes visitors to campus, with hands modeled on Abbot Barnabas Senecal’s. • The college is getting noticed in the statehouse. As we celebrated the 150th anniversary of Kansas, Gov. Sam Brownback was our Commencement speaker. Patrick George, class of 1979, became the Kansas Secretary of Commerce — following Bill Thornton, class of 1980, in that position. • Princeton professor and national figure Robert George was our convocation speaker. He wrote: “I knew little about the college prior to my visit. Wow, was I impressed! It is a very special place. The institution is suffused with a love of learning. One senses it among faculty and students alike.” Thank you so much once again for partnering with us to make Benedictine College one of the great Catholic colleges in America. May our work together in the New Year be just as fruitful!
Forward, always forward!,
