How I made the

Book

What Is My Book About?

The book I’ve designed for this assessment piece contains various typographic material, some including visual examples, designers and typefaces, to inspire and get creativity flowing.

Book Contents

• Must-know info for Beginning

• Pre-existing Typographic Designs • Typographers and Designers

• Tips and Tricks to Get Started

• Must-have Typefaces for Designers • The Keys for Success

Alot of inspiration and layout design for my book came from places such as Pinterest where I had access to many designs and book layouts. From here I decided I wanted something which was simplistic, featured large caps and a very limited colour palette. I wanted to feature works just like the site did, which ultimately lead me to design an inspiration book, something you could take with you anywhere.

My Inspiration

The Process

In the process of designing and laying out my book I encountered many hurdles, where sometimes my content wouldn’t line up, images weren’t the right resolution and font size was wrong and way too big after a test print. I feel as though my process was a bit rushed, for I would have loved to have more than a few weeks to have set out my content and pages. Just as previously mentioned,

I included the process of featuring various typographers and designers along with their works. Referencing was definately a headache but the final layout is satisfying and I went ahead to include a few more typography related resources to give more of a kick to my book. All in all it’s a book which is straight to the point, simplistic and elegant. Definately different to my first draft.
