Megan Ojari Visual evaluation How is success defined, and how do the skills I have learnt aid me on my way to success within my practice?

Meeting the brief: - Ultimately most important factor in industry - Beginning to understand how versatile this can be still - Should try to research widely to get a more open outcome - Need to ensure I push the brief as far as possible to get unusual outcomes Peer and tutor responses to work: - Gives a wider context to work - Preparing my work for reflections in the real world - Helps to broaden my techniques and scope for ideas - Need to ensure I provide a lot of options and ideas so that best outcome can be discussed

Fame and professional notoriety: - Learnt that looking at other artists has validated my own work and practice - Through hard work and forging strong links in industry, the ladder can be climbed - Stop comparing self to others and begin to forge own practice within chosen field - Exploring the professional world can open up different ways of working and how important constant progress is Grades from modules: - Reflect upon how much I am developing as a practitioner - Are a strong basis for how my work is improving - Help to push me to work harder to achieve the results I want - Tracking improvement in specific modules indicate which areas I need to work harder on

Visual quality in work: - Goes hand in hand with feedback and how well it is received - Comes about through constant wrestle and play with image and composition - Can be used to judge how successful a piece is - Separate to communication and intent of image, is the superficial impression

Pride in work: - Workshop and studio practice has broadened my range of skills and confidence in using them - Through set tasks outside of my comfort zone I have surprised myself with what I can achieve - Following different, diverse ideas allowed me to create outcomes I would never have expected to produce - Understanding relationships between media (e.g. hand rendered and digital) and how this can alter the tone and feel of work quickly and effectively - Final outcomes gave a chance to showcase what I learnt alongside a strong idea

Confidence in own ideas: - Developed by not being ashamed of the work produced - Embracing the imperfections and highlighting the character - There is not set rules for how to create an image - Following what I want to create will make the most interesting outcomes How well you’re coping with workload: - Learnt to plan time through drawing timetables - Try to dedicate set times to ‘play’ within my drawings to see what happens - Through keeping on top of set tasks, quantity and quality can be increased - Making sure focus is clear and set on the task improves the quality of work I produce
