THE SECRET GARDEN
Fairies at the bottom of the garden – The Cottingley fairies hoax of 1917 erupted when two English girls took pictures of themselves with alleged fairies in their garden. The incredible part of the story is that the girls’ photographs were given credibility by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle who enthusiastically saw them as physical evidence of psychic phenomena.
The Cottingley fairies were Megan’s inspiration. The elements are all there – playful imagination in the whimsical natural world; a cultivated garden and the magic of mystical creatures that could possibly be true, or not.
The story has inspired Megan to create The Secret Garden, a beautiful, magical collection for summer 24/25. Megan’s textiles, embroideries and prints with superb detailing and tailoring make up a collection that illustrate her love of romance and femininity. These pieces take us from day to night with lots of intoxicating layers and choices.
