Megan Salmon’s Winter 23 collection Gisette is about the Far East meeting the West, inspired by the major impact of Japanese culture on European art and design in the 19th Century.

The collection pays homage to Clemence “Gisette” Lecarpentier d’Ennery, a maverick and charismatic, gallerist and collector central to the French craze for Japonisme who has largely been forgotten.

In a time of France being overwhelmed by industrialism and mass production she championed these precious artefacts that embodied craftsmanship and quality from an ancient culture that was admired and sought after.

Gisette was a leader in Europe embracing this Japanese aesthetic that permeated western popular culture, fashion, theatre, home décor as well as inspiring artists such as Monet, Klimt and Whistler.

The Winter 23 collection begins with fabulous original Megan Salmon prints inspired by historic Japanese kimonos and artworks depicting geishas, birds, animals and flowers.

Alongside this treasure trove of textures and patterns is a wonderful rich palette of colour used in wools, linens, corduroys and knits.

Megan has created a superb range of colour, shape and texture to fulfill every woman’s desire to look and feel their best.

MEGAN SALMON

Megan Salmon has been creating beautiful fashion for more than 20 years, working from her studio in Fremantle, WA.

Originally trained as a painter, particularly of portraits and the human body, Megan brings a refined appreciation of form, colour and textiles in a label cherished by women wanting to look and feel their best.

Each season features unique textiles, drawn from Megan’s hand painted images, photographs and designs. Megan Salmon garments are hand-made for the long term.
