history

curriculum Course System For students to become business people with scholarly acquisition, the School of Commerce has adopted a fourcourse system that includes: Management; Accounting; Commerce, Trade, and Finance; and Economics and Industry. The School also offers general education subjects and foreign languages.

Semester System

Established in 1904, the School of Commerce, Waseda University, is the oldest undergraduate school among Japan’s private universities. With over 100,000 graduates, the school promotes undergraduates’ education and research activities that emphasize the principle of becoming business people with scholarly acquisition. The School of Commerce introduces the factors of informatization, interdisciplinary studies, and internationalization.

The academic year is divided into two semesters: Spring (beginning in April and ending in August) and Fall (beginning in September and ending in February), with most courses spanning six months or one year.
