Megève is a real paradise for families.

I’m Megève’s mascot. I’ll be your friendly guide throughout this booklet and during your holiday in Megève. I’ll help you discover (or rediscover) all the activities and events you can enjoy with your family or on your own, accompanied by professionals. You can enjoy the many events available throughout the winter, such as the Christmas tree lights switch on, the Christmas village, hockey for all, the Grande Odyssée international sled dog race, the Soirées Givrées (Frost Evenings) and many others!

You’ll also discover that the locals will want to tell you about magical places to explore too.

If you would like to take part in the group exhibition, it’s easy, just submit your literary inspirations, with or without an illustration, from January to 24 February. We will be exhibiting them in the media library from 11 March 2023. Yesterday afternoon, I went for a walk with my grandma and sister. We took the Chemin du Calvaire. How beautiful is it with all those chapels! It was a nice day, so we took advantage of it before the “weather took a turn for the worse” as the local elders used to say. Once we reached the Mont d'Arbois plateau, we took the Rocharbois. Honestly, our flying cable car is so nice. Once we arrived at La Caboche, we went back down to the village via the Chemin du Maz. As forecast on the way back, the snow started to fall, so much the better, as tomorrow morning we are going skiing on Le Jaillet so the snow will be good!

Once in the village, we crossed the small stone bridge to go in the River cafe where hot chocolate and biscuits were waiting for my sister and me, and a fabulous carrot cake and tea for my grandma.

A great way to recharge your batteries after a good walk.

Accessible to all over the age of 10. Get ready for a unique family experience on the La Princesse snow sledging run. Hurtle through the heart of the forest on the almost 3,000m snow-covered sledging run, from the summit of Mont d’Arbois to La Princesse’s mid-station. Laughter and fun guaranteed!

The Snow Elves Village

A small population of elves live in our mountains. Come and experience the elves’ way of life in the Snow Elves Village and share snow sports experiences and games with your family in a magical setting.

This free admission area (excluding ski lifts) for young and old is located at the top of Rochebrune.

It can be accessed by pedestrians and skiers via the Rochebrune cable car, or the Chamois gondola lift followed by the La Caboche gondola lift.

Ski instructor for children

Sandrine has been an independent, statequalified ski instructor for many years in Megève and specialises in teaching children aged 3 to 13 years, from beginner skiers to level 3*. She teaches in French, English and Spanish in a fun, progressive way during individual lessons or small groups of 2 to 3 children of the same level, depending on demand.

Skiing tor children and teenagers

Children from 5 to 12 years old. From the Ourson to the Étoile d’Or, our passionate ski instructors are there to support your child as they progress, while also teaching them the basics of safety on the slopes. They can learn while having fun with other children in a relaxed and friendly environment.

Competition courses

The beginners’ competition course has been specially designed for children aged 7 years and over so they can continue progressing on the slopes beyond the Etoile d’Or, gain independence and pass their first signposts. From the age of 10 and for budding competitors, the ESF offers full or half-day competition courses. Your child can then train with friends on the different ESF stages in the area and challenge the clock!

The Teenager Team

What to do with your teenager? The ESF has the solution: the Teenager team is for young people aged 13 to 16. Accompanied by our instructors, your teenager will benefit from technical advice in the friendly environment of a dynamic group in order to progress. And for the more adventurous who have already reached the Etoile d’Or level, the FREESTYLE TEENAGER TEAM will be the perfect option to discover new thrills in a safe way. With this group, your teenager will also be able to enjoy our Airbag at Rochebrune!

Ski lessons to allow your little ones to discover skiing at a relaxed pace. Teaching starts in the snow garden, a specially managed space designed to help them build confidence. Groups are limited to a maximum of 6 children per instructor for a personalised and positive approach to skiing.

Children (5-12 years old) Patient and attentive instructors provide these future champions with lessons organised according to age and ability. Junior Great North Experience Snowshoeing

From 7 years old. Combining reality and imagination, come and imitate the adventurers of the Great North who go on expeditions in the vast ex panses of snow and ice in Siberia or Alaska and set off, with snowshoes on your feet, to discover Megève, covered in its beautiful white blanket.

Equipped like real pros with pulks, an expe dition tepee and wood-burning stove, face the cold and the polar bears, find a suitable camp for the day and manage the tasks necessary for our survival. Assembling the tepee, finding wood, taking care of the fire, making food and hunting will be our tasks! A unique wilderness experience. Let your explorer’s instinct flow.

Sledge 4S

From 3 years accompanied by an adult; Unaccompanied from 9 years (or 14 years depending on weather conditions). “UN CERTAIN ROBERT DOISNEAU” EXHIBITION

In its cultural space at Le Palais, Megève presents a retrospective exhibition dedicated to the photographer Robert Doisneau (19121994), one of the main representatives of the French humanist photography movement and one of the most popular photographers of the 20th century.

The exhibition which incorporates original images from the Robert Doisneau workshop collection in Paris, comprises 170 black and white, and colour, photographs from the early 1930s to the late 1980s. It’s a chance to learn about, or rediscover, everyday life in

Paris between the 1940s and 1980s, with scenes from childhood, pictures of school children, society life and celebrities - artists, writers and actors - as well as a personal album of family photos and a series of colour photographs of large housing developments in the Paris suburbs. An entire section is dedicated to the Alps and Megève in the 1930s, Tyrol and Chamonix.

Doisneau’s mountains Between 1936 and 1966, Robert Doisneau took photos of the mountains during his family holidays as well as for print media and publications.

His first trip to the Alps was a visit to Megève in 1936 when he set off with his wife, Pierrette, to meet his cousins who had rented a chalet. Whilst there, they both discovered the delights of snow, cable cars and downhill skiing in France’s first ski resort. They were often in the company of little Michel, the son of his cousins (Michel is the little boy who sleeps with his skis) who can be seen in the photos.
